I am one that most of the time writes reviews to complain. This past Saturday I spent a day of shopping with by wife at the outlets. Around 6:00 p.m. I had enough and needed a drink and dinner. We saw a sign for Jakes and decided to give it a try. It turned out to the highlight of the... more

Our family has gone to Jake's at least once a year for about 12 years on our annual Rehoboth trip. It once was dependably good seafood at a reasonable price. We were shocked this August by: tiny portions (my teenage son's flounder portion would not have even made it as a kid's meal), the escalated prices -- which no longer... more

Say you're at Rehoboth Beach and you want a simple, uncomplicated seafood meal. Nothing trendy, or too froo-froo. Jake's is a good choice. We ate here in the last week of August and the food was good, and the service swift and courteous. We walked in at around 7:45, and waited about 20 minutes (as advertised by the hostess) to... more

The success of this place is a mystery: there is always a line even though it's noisy, chaotic and the seafood is bland to the point of unidentifiable. I had the highly-recommended stuffed rockfish, which came with good redskin mashed potatoes and well-prepared broccoli. But the fish? No idea. All I could taste was mayonnaise and mustard in a sauce... more

After a short wait, we were seated in an atractive room. Service was cheery and efficient. The food was standard Eastern seafood, but not particularly memorable. Most of the entrees were fine. The desert list is very limited; better off to go to nearby ice cream place. The beer list was decent. Overall, I would not make a special effort... more

So many people seem to like this place (or at least it’s always busy), but my one trip there was so unimpressive. Plain décor, no ambience, service was okay but impersonal. I had a basic fish dish and it just had no flavor. Others at my table were equally unimpressed. more

We traveled to Rehoboth in July 2008 and thought of dining at Jake’s with our family. We were quite surprised and disappointed at the roughness and rudeness of the staff. This maybe a good place for others but if for those with families with children, we would not recommend the experience. more

Not sure why but you often find the best seafood in places with the worst atmosphere. That's Jake's in downtown Rehoboth. Dark, noisy and meandering with fake wood wobbly tables. But when the rolls arrive, you know you made a good choice. The crabcakes are amazing; fresh and tasty. The filet mignon with crab imperial is the best thing on... more

We only went once (why go twice when there are so many other restaurants to choose from?), but it was really bad. Plain atmosphere, haphazard and bored waitress, not one good meal for the four of us (crab cakes, simple grilled fish). Yet there's always a line. Maybe they had an off night? more
