One of My Favorite Place in Newark

This is a great place for lunch/dinner and if you're there later in the evening or night, it's a great little bar. Even if you're not veg/vegan their menu is fantastic with tons of customizable options. It can get pretty crowded later at night when the bar crowd shows up, so if you don't like it... read more

Lowered my rating after thinking more about our experience. Because: it's relatively expensive; tiny little side order of guacamole; seems more a drinking place than food.

Rep is a healthy eatery. No brown rice. How can they think they have a healthy menu serving white rice! Weird. Won't eat here again. 😟

One of our favorites for lunch in Newark. Has a great vegetarian selection for my wife and something for the meat eater too. Have always found the food delicious and fresh and the staff friendly.

My family of 4 ate at Home Grown over Graduation Weekend. The music, food, and atmosphere appealed to the college kid, the teenager, and the baby boomer parents. I would definitely eat here again! Hint: I made a reservation through Open Table. I recommend this site for dining reservations anywhere.

Menu offers a lot of options for wraps, salads, sandwiches etc, as well as full entrees. Most of the items you can get as vegetarian or vegan or with a protein. Brunch on Sundays never disappoints but be sure to make a reservation.

Met 2 friends for lunch on a Friday around 12:15. It wasn't crowded and we were seated right away. It got more busy over the next hour. Pros: -nice menu with lots of interesting options-vegan, vegetarian, regular -the food is fresh and nicely presented (the lettuce wraps and hummus are delicious) -our server was very pleasant and energetic Cons: -it... When we arrived in a Friday night it was one of the few restaurants Not crowded with young college students. The decor was interesting, almost 60's alien style if I had to use words to describe it. Interesting I know, but you'll get it once you see it. When we arrived it took the hostess a minute to seat us... More

Had the chicken congee which was soothing on a cold day, but needed a little more flavor--some herbs or salt maybe. Pad thai with veggie burger was outstanding! Tasty and filling--you may have leftovers. Apple chicken salad is good and large, also. Most items seem to have plenty to eat and food is a great value!

This restaurant has been a culinary disappointment--twice. The food is not what is promised. On our last visit we ordered the Gyros with lamb. The meat in the gyros was dripping wet and the yogurt sauce (I can't spell it, but tzatziki?) was completely missing. My wife ordered a side salad with blue cheese on the side and it arrived... Jim, I am sorry that your visit was not on par with the service and food that either of us desire. I would love for you to contact me offline - sasha@homegrowncafe.com I want to clarify if this did take place yesterday, 3/19, so that I can follow up with both the kitchen and service staff that was on duty,...
