Stopped in for a drink while visiting University of Delaware. Deer Park Tavern is on Main street just out of the thick of things for the University. Its a short walk to most parts of the school and the other shopping on Main Street. I didn't try the food, but the wait staff was very friendly, the place had character,... More

I guess this is a staple in Newark, Delaware. Located in an older building by the train tracks. Staff couldn't have been nicer - super accommodating and friendly. Food was fresh and tasty. Would definitely go back next time we are in town.

I am a graduate of the University of Delaware--which might be a very interesting thing to be if the 2016 election is Chris Christie vs Joe Biden--both University of Delaware graduates. It is not your usual boring Harvard vs Yale. When I went to Delaware, the pickup bar was The Stone Balloon, but the serious bar was the Deer Park.... More

Rang in the New Year with an early dinner with friends... the atmosphere was festive (not wild) and the service was excellent. The food was great, as usual and a good time was had by all. We are locals, but the DP is home to anyone who crosses its threshold.

We were out with a friend looking for the Mason/Dixon line starting point in White Clay Creek state park and we got hungry. After getting slightly lost we re-found the tavern. Great place. Older bar and comfortable seating for a late lunch. Service was great and friendly. Specials were good and reasonably priced. Very good draft beer selection.

This college town pub is a nice place to tip a few and enjoy friends. The draft beer selection is excellent. Try Taylors Grog - made by Twin Lakes Brewing in Greenville DE. Very good!! They also had many other fine local beers from Dogfish among others. They also had cheap taps and low priced cans of the usual for... More

The building is listed in National Register of Historic Places and has a story behind it worth looking up before you visit. Not easy to get to due to traffic down Main St. and the parking is tight and limited. Once in, the atmosphere is great and has a real old tavern feel to it. Nice place to sit around... More

We visited DeerPark during UDel Parent's Weekend, 2013. While the tavern was completely booked, neither the service nor the food suffered! The crab cakes were terrific, as were both the French onion steak sandwich and chicken quesadillas. The salmon was grilled to perfection (a little more bourbon sauce would have been nice) and the corn bread and green beans... delicious!... More

This is a fun place to have drinks - large beer selection, great Bloody Mary bar on Sundays for brunch, and cool atmosphere (especially when it's nice out and you can sit on the porch). Food is mediocre but fine to pair with some drinks, and there is a big selection. There are good food specials like $5 wings during... More
