Not a great place. Peruvian cooking can be very tasty, but the bad service and over-cooking ruined it for me.
Visited the new Chicken House location in Claymont. (I have not been to their Newark location.) For a Saturday night the place was fairly crowded, and doing a brisk takeout business as well. Previous tenants at this location have not fared well, but I think the Chicken House will be a success. I ordered the 1/2 chicken w/yellow rice &... More
I've visited the Chicken House on several occasions and each time I absolutely enjoyed myself. The chicken is so delicious. One might think, it's just chicken, but it's not. It is so tender, well seasoned and they serve it with this " aji " sauce, which makes it even better. I always get the Jalea, a fried seafood dish...delicious. You... More
I called ahead for take-out. The server was very helpful and informative on the phone. The food was ready in no time flat and check it was a breeze. The chicken and fried rice tastes amazing!
I tried the pollo a la brasa or rotisserie chicken cooked over a wood fire. It came with yello rice that was realy good but I wanted green rice. They would not sell me a side of green rice. The yucca a la huancaina was done to perfection. Pilson and Cusqueña are the only Peruvian beers on the menu. They... More
If I lived locally I would eat at The Chicken House regularly because the food was fresh and seems homemade. It may be the Peruvian version of comfort food. In my travels I prefer to avoid chain restaurants and seek opportuntities to support small businesses like this one. This restaurant was clean and the service was excellent. They offer an... More
Nothing special here. Strip mall local, booth and table seating. Attentive service, cheap beers, good chicken. I had a 1/2 chicken with yellow rice and a salad for $7.95. Chicken was good as was the rice, salad included. Nice family operation that I would rather patronize than a big chain brand anyday.
Had the house spicy wings - very moist and juicy with a crisp breading - great with their "salsa." Fried rice with chicken and steak was good although a little light on the proteins. Portions are large and decently priced. Overall a very good meal and I will be back to try the chicken next time.
A Peruvian man told us about the Chicken House so we went there last night. When you enter you are assailed by the aroma of freshly roasting chicken which certainly whets you appetite. The ambiance is casual, to say the least, and the chef's knife skills are lacking, but the food is fresh and servings ample. My husband's chicken and... More
Nice, clean place with friendly staff. A group of seven of us attended and while most of us thought the food was great a few thought the main course chicken was dry. Fantastic chicken wings to start though, which we all agreed on. Very good value too at $140 for seven of including beers and some starters
