Gluttonous but Still Enjoyable

This is a mixed review because we really enjoyed the experience and the food. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is authentic. Also, it's the only game in town. Now for the rest of the story....... My husband ordered an appetizer of grilled shrimp. It was not only a... read more

Lovely, quaint. Excellent libations, 100's of beers to choose from. I had the soup special of the day: Beef and ginger with a side of "sweet potato" fries.....Perfect. My other half had the pulled pork sandwich : awesome, and more than plenty.

This is a mixed review because we really enjoyed the experience and the food. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is authentic. Also, it's the only game in town. jessops has such a cool, old time, local ambience it's always a great place to stop in for a drink or a meal. I've been there often and have never been let down. I enjoy their Portobello sandwich and sweet potato fries.

Kids in from out of town so wanted a nice atmosphere where we could talk and have good food. Jessop's fit the bill perfectly. Everyone's food was great; my favorite is the pot pie, but fish& chips looked great as did the pot roast. Desserts were outstanding.

Jessop's is such a quaint place with lots of atmosphere. I decided on the Shepherd's Pie and it was simply amazing. It was huge, delicious, and hot throughout. My wife and I split a beautiful salad to start. Great bread. Good service. Friendly host. An over pleasant experience. Booked on OpenTable and used a 10% off coupon.

I dined here with my husband. If you're going for an old building this is your place to go. If you're going for food and good service I'd stay away from here. Service was awful and food was even worse! We ordered the crap dip which was extremely fishy and had to send it back. The waiter's reply was let... More

On a Friday night, (15/5/2015) the place was almost empty due to our late arrival by US standards (20.30). . Food and service were up to the usual good standards and so was the overall atmosphere which is pleasant and relaxing with low lighting. Service by Siobhan was professional and prompt, nothing to complain about. However, rock music was so... More

Food and service here are top notch. The deserts vary by day but the cobblers are amazing. Great place for dinner or to just drop in for drinks. Very historic atmosphere really takes you back in time.

Quaint old atmosphere, great food and friendly staff. It's located in Old New Castle, near the river. Went in for dinner after walking around the area.
