We stopped here on a whim after seeing positive reviews on Tripadvisor, and because we wanted something a little different than typical roadside fare during our long car trip. It was awesome, and the whole family enjoyed it! Excellent food - I can particularly recommend the Shepherd's Pie for an entre and the Bread Pudding for dessert. The atmosphere was... More

The food is really good and the colonial atmospehere is like being in Williamsburg Virginia. I especially like the great selection of Belgium Beers. Best in the state.

My wife and I left NYC on a two week road trip to DC, NC, Va., & Lancaster, Pa. As we were considering where to stop for lunch, I remembered visiting a very quaint, old fashioned town New Castle, De. We had stopped there once prior maybe 6 years ago, when we were taking a cruise out of Baltimore. The... More

I can't believe that I have lived in Delaware for over 10 years and I just discovered this fantastic restaurant. The friendly staff dress in period costumes and the food is colonial also. I had the roast beef, my daughter had the steak, my sister the fish and chips and my nephew the burger. The food is excellent... the portions... More

Thanks for another great evening, Food was outstanding. First time trying the beef and ale pot pie. The best pot pie I've had. The raw oyster app was excellent...really fresh. My wife had the fish and chips and was also very good. Have had several things at Jessop's now and you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The... More

Jessop's does a great job of making you feel like you just stepped back into colonial times (which works especially well in Old New Castle). But they don't stop there. Besides the period costumes, there is the colonial-inspired food, which was great. Only problem was settling on a choice as there were quite a few entrees that sounded delicious. They... More

I visited Jessop's Tavern with a group of 15 in July 2014. Since we were a large group, and were on a schedule, not only did we make a reservation, but we pre-ordered our lunch. It took 20 mins to get our drink order (just water and sodas) and 45 mins to get the food we had pre-ordered. The service... More

Jessop's has an incredible menu for craft and not so easy to find beers of the world. Order up, it may take a few minutes for the friendly staff to locate and dust off your selection but trust me it's worth the wait. The best fish and chips to be had within 50 miles!

My fiancee and I happened to find this place and just entering we felt back in time. 300 years old and still cozy, comfortable. We order the Smorgas brod and the presentation was just delightful. The details from the metal dishes, the waitress' costume and the Nordic music was very beautiful. I would love to give them a 5 star... More

I liked the atmosphere and the era-accurate dress that the staff wore. I liked the large bar area and the entire space as a whole. I don't remember details, but I do remember prompt and courteous service. There was a sufficient number of dishes to choose from and I don't recall what I chose, but I remember it being good....
