Puts the olde in old

This establishment will take you back you back to the ye olde days. Just cannot say enough about the fish and chips. If you are a fan of shepards pie by all means indulge. Meatloaf for lunch is a good choice. I've seen a whole lot better service as the times I dined there the wait staff enjoyed... read more

You literally cannot miss on this menu. Friendly staff that is knowledgable about everything on the menu and can guide you to new and exotic beers with just a few ideas from your palate. Everything from salad to seafood tastes extremely fresh. If you're a history buff, you'll love the decor and neighborhood. This is somewhere you simply must visit... More

Once again, back to the Tavern on the square for their huge selection of Belgian ales and local crab cakes. It's pretty much pub food, but there are a few great selections if you choose wisely- in other words, choose the crab cakes and have a pint of ale.

As far as historic taverns goes this is a towards the top of the list. Jessop's is in the heart of historic New Castle, DE. The beer selection is outstanding. On the down side the service was slow. Granted we got there just as they opened, but we sat at the bar for about 5 minutes waiting to be served... More

In town during a New England states tour and stopped here for dinner. The beer was amazing, the fish & chips were great but the Sheppards pie was insane!!!

Very unique restaurant in Historic New Castle. The beer list is ...over 70 pages long. The food is served in large portions. My wife and I only had sandwiches and we took half home. The staff dress in period costumes, and they were all very nice. Again if you like beer this is a must, I had a few select... More

Why did it take us so long to come here? We brought our kids for Christmas Eve. First thing we did was walk to the point to see the water. What a lovely walkway, with benches positioned to sit and watch the boats go by. The tavern itself is small, nice evening lighting with waitstaff wearing period type clothing. We... More

I was in DE for a business trip and a colleague suggested Jessop's for dinner. The place is located in New Castle in an old part of town. Nice spot for pictures! Service was great and their Belgian beer selection is outstanding. Their Sheppard's pie is HUGE and delicious! This place tries to emulate an old colonial tavern. We saw... More

We stopped in around 3:30 for a late lunch/early dinner. We had read that this was a popular place to eat. It is like an old time tavern and very nice. We were seated right by the fireplace at a cozy table for two. The staff were friendly and the salads we got were wonderful. Unfortunately there was a local... More
