Great food and draft beer selection

Food and service here are top notch. The deserts vary by day but the cobblers are amazing. Great place for dinner or to just drop in for drinks. Very historic atmosphere really takes you back in time.

Quaint old atmosphere, great food and friendly staff. It's located in Old New Castle, near the river. Went in for dinner after walking around the area.

Jessop's Tavern has a great atmosphere and begs that it will continue with the food and service. The pot pie looks great ... The crust was delicious but that didn't extended to the chicken/veg that was doused in too much thyme ... the accompanying biscuit was as hard as a rock! The chicken sandwich was decent with sweet potato fries.... More

My wife, myself and another couple found Jessop's Tavern on line. We thought the menu looked good, boy were we in for a surprise. Some of the reviews said there portions were large, but they were huge! The hostess brought us through the bar area and into a back room. It was very rustic and cozy. Erika was our server and... Two couples ate dinner here last night! The tavern's decor is authentic to colonial time and the wait staff is dressed to the period as well. We had 3 appetizers, crab dip, grilled shrimp and mussels, all were delicious. The 4 entrees we chose were huge, and each person thoroughly enjoyed their food. The shepherd's pie could have easily been... More

I was so impressed by the choice of Belgian beers ad the charm of this place. But the food was not to be outdone by the beer guide. The homemade crust really made the pot pies shine. Very flaky obviously made there by someone who knows what pastry crust should be. Don't forget to try their sweet potato fries. Its... More

This is a delightful place for lunch or dinner. The wait staff was both friendly and efficient. The crab dip appetizer was the best I ever had. My chicken pot pie was delicious. The homemade ice cream was the perfect ending.

We stumbled upon this great bar on our trip to New Castle and we just fell in love. It was around Halloween time and they had a great selection of pumpkin flavored beers and this amazing woodchuck cider that we still crave every day! their butternut squash soup was amazing and my boyfriend ordered fish and chips that were fantastic!... We have been here frequently and for the most part found it very good. Tonight we ordered the prime rib special. The meat was so tough and full of fat that I sent mine back. My husband ate his but said it was terrible (tough and full of fat). Our server brought me another serving and it was just awful.... More

This old colonial tavern is so warm and inviting. It feels like a little piece of Colonial Williamsburg right here in the tri-state area. While my husband and I don't drink, we adore old taverns for their decor and laid back atmosphere. Jessop's menu has a little something for just about every taste. My personal favorite is their bread-bowl creations.... More
