I generally don't go for comfort food when I go out, however, I have to say Jessops really delivered a cozy atmoshere and a meal I really enjoyed.I went way off my norm and orderded Shepaerds Pie. It was fantastic. I never order anything like that and usually avoid eateries that have meatloaf and that kind of thing on their... More

Atmosphere and the wide selection of Craft Beers on tap brought us to this nice Tavern. Lately though the food and service are not what it once was. Maybe a new Chef or an old one that has lost interest is the answer. We will still go but not for the food. What a shame!

Driving down to Christiana Mall we decided to take a look at colonial New Castle and stopped for lunch. Despite it being a cold Friday afternoon the Tavern was quite busy at 1 PM and we were seated in the next door dining area which had lots of character. Service was very prompt and welcoming. Food was perfect for a... More

Nice place, wait staff dresses in period dress. Food was very good and there was a vast variety of craft beer to choose from. Best option in New Castle.

The food and atmosphere is excellent. Didn't have any complaints about the service. We are repeat customers. Nothing bad to say about this restaurant.

Jessop's is the oldest tavern in the Delaware, and boy does it look it. They really stick to the historical theme here, it doesn't look like it been cleaned for decades. I had a spinach salad with salmon filet. Big salmon filet, but it was drenched in tarragon. Ugh. The tarragon overwhelmed the salmon, not a nice mix. The spinach... More

This is a great place to visit for some great meals. The beer/cheddar/ jalapeno soup was really good and highly recommended. They have a fantastic selection of beers specializing the Belgian brews.

You will be stepping back into time at Jessop's Tavern. The ambiance is warm and you can imagine the days of George Washington. All the employees wear traditional attire that makes the period of time they are trying to preserve. If you are a craft beer connoisseur you will absolutely love this place. The food was good...it is American fare.... More

Very small bar and restaurant. The bar takes up more space than the restaurant. It is very old, cozy, and has a large working fireplace. The food is really good and original. The best hamburger ever, shepherd's pie, great desserts, varied soups and specials for the day. I really enjoyed the bread bowl which was full of seafood stew. YUM!... More
