When you visit Jessops Tavern, ask for Debbie! She is a fun and competent waitress with a GREAT sense of humor. She likes making her customers laugh at little with her dry and quick wit. We also enjoyed our sandwiches. The pastrami Reuben was tasty with a generous amount of meat on a pretzel roll. My friend had the veggie... More

Atmosphere is great but a little noisy as it is popular and small. American and colonial style foods which are very good and huge servings. I had a prime rib open sandwich with crumbled blue cheese and roasted peppers.

Limited menu but done absolutely right. The warm crab dip in a sourdough bowl for sharing is an ideal starter for a table of four. The Black & Bleu Sirloin sandwich on Texas toast served with a Kosher pickle spear and house made sweet potatoes was a great choice. the Sliced Sirloin Salad was massive and outstanding. This is the... More

My most recent visit featured a cod sandwich. As usual, the fish was very fresh and the sauce was very tasty. They have the best selection of Belgian beers in Delaware.

The tavern is steeped in history and is in a lovely location when visiting New Castle and the port area. The food is excellent but the beers are VERY over priced and so spoils the treat a little. Maybe relying on their name a little too much and so feel they can 'get away with it' sadly. Overall experince was... More

Wanted a place that would deliver a nice luncheon in a nice setting that was local. This place fit the bill. Charming atmosphere, great food, reasonable prices and good looking clientele. Went for lunch and I had a prime rib open face sandwich, my wife had a Shepherds Pie, my mother had Fish and chips (voted best in Delaware) and... More

We've dined here several times over the past few years. If you love visiting Old New Castle, combined with a good meal and/or a huge beer selection, in a place that has a colonial ambience, this place is a worthy stop. The menu has selections such as Shepard's Pie, Pot Roast, Turkey, Pot Pie, Fish and Chip, Salmon, to name... More

We've had 2 delicious meals at Jessops, once for dinner, once for lunch. Both times the meals were great and the service was perfect, not too fast or slow, just enough to relax and enjoy. The Shepherds Pie is AMAZING!!!

A great night at Jessop's! They were very busy as they were fully booked, but the service was excellent just as always. The food was outstanding. My wife had the Tavern steak and I had the stuffed flounder. Highly recommend both dishes (although you can't go wrong with anything on menu). The mussels appetizer very good as well. It is... More

Back in history few hundred years back.....Great ambient. Classic furniture, decoration, and even servers dressed up the old style. Fish & chips is highly recommended on the menu and it was good. Hot Apple cider is very good. Quite pricey for the quality.
