The food and atmosphere is excellent. Didn't have any complaints about the service. We are repeat customers. Nothing bad to say about this restaurant.

Jessop's is the oldest tavern in the Delaware, and boy does it look it. They really stick to the historical theme here, it doesn't look like it been cleaned for decades. I had a spinach salad with salmon filet. Big salmon filet, but it was drenched in tarragon. Ugh. The tarragon overwhelmed the salmon, not a nice mix. The spinach... More

This is a great place to visit for some great meals. The beer/cheddar/ jalapeno soup was really good and highly recommended. They have a fantastic selection of beers specializing the Belgian brews.

Had a group of 8 meet for dinner. For many, it was the first visit, for all, we will be repeat customers... Love the pot roast and the pot pies. Save room for dessert! They are great and enough to share... Planning our next visit(s)...Thanks for a fun place with great food!

You will be stepping back into time at Jessop's Tavern. The ambiance is warm and you can imagine the days of George Washington. All the employees wear traditional attire that makes the period of time they are trying to preserve. If you are a craft beer connoisseur you will absolutely love this place. The food was good...it is American fare.... More

Very small bar and restaurant. The bar takes up more space than the restaurant. It is very old, cozy, and has a large working fireplace. The food is really good and original. The best hamburger ever, shepherd's pie, great desserts, varied soups and specials for the day. I really enjoyed the bread bowl which was full of seafood stew. YUM!... More

Great old building with historic atmosphere to match. Food very good with strong selection of ales. Great jalapeño, cheese and beer soup. Service efficient even though place was busy. My only complaint was the small group at next table was loud so I don't think the acoustics are great.

A previous reviewer said that they accepted solo diners, that was not the case. I called and made a reservation and was seated immediately by the fire. I had an amazing time-- the beef ale pot pie was the best I ever had and the homemade ice cream is to die for. They do not have a lot of seating... More

We live in Delaware County PA, near Swarthmore, and I wanted to find a place nearby that we hadn't been to for my 9 year old son, wife, and myself. I had heard great things about New Castle and saw the reviews and menu for Jessop's. I had high expectactions going in and it met all of them. Great colonial... More
