My wife and I have been going to the 1776 House every time we Lewes for the last six or seven years. This past week was our last time. We were so disappointed. Service was terrible, steak was over cooked, no taste. Go to Stripper Bites and have a great meal.

Steaks were tough and over cooked. Side dishes lacked flavor. Martinis were made weak and tasteless.

Came for after Friday night dinner with my boyfriend. He had not been here but I had and loved it before. We had an amazing waitress (Michelle- thank you!) that knew what she was doing and treated us very well, which as a young couple is sometimes hard to find. The appetizers were great- baked Brie and stuffed mushroom with... More

Where to start with all the things that were not done right? In no particular order: The mini room for our group was very undersized and 1776 knew how many people to expect. No changes were allowed without getting a hard time for the limited choices picked by the group leader. The selections included 2 soups, both of which were... More

It actually felt like a nice restaurant serving steaks, etc. but not like a "steakhouse" where portions are larger and the food presentation is much nicer. Atmosphere is warm and comfortable. Prices are very reasonable for what you get. Service was very good, once our "not so good server" was replaced.

I'm new to the area, a widow. Looking for social contact and making friends. I mentioned this to the maître dee and he directed me to the bar. If you're not a regular and if you're not in the clique, don't bother. Unfriendly.

This was our first time dining at 1776 and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys a great steak! Service is Excellent. Appetizers were outstanding. I recommend the black ravioli, it was fantastic! The filet mignon was the best I've had, ever!! The atmosphere was elegant without being stuffy. Hands down one of our more memorable dining experiences!

The location is in the strip mall next to the cinema. The ambiance is good but the limited seating needs improvement. The tables by the door need privacy since the people coming in stand right next to you while eating by the front door and cold air with door openings. The meats were presented nicely on an open tray displayed... More

Three of us visited on a Sunday night. The oysters on the half shell were without liqour as if they had been shucked earlier in the day or yesterday, put in the refrigerator shucked, and dried out. The 1776 filet and the delmonico were excellent pieces of meat, prepared as requested. The vegetable ravioli was delicious as well. Service was... More
