Recently re visited 1776 Steakhouse in Lewes after a 7 year lapse and was very pleased. The dinning room is nicely decorated with spacious tables and ample seating. Tables are far enough apart so you can move around without bumping into the people seated behind you. We had reservations for 6:30 and were promptly seated on time. Our water glasses... More

Great menu, friendly service, excellent bartender, and accommodating owner. I usually start with the black lobster ravioli (delish). Then I get the filet mignon done Pittsburgh style (charred on the outside and medium rare on the inside). 1776 does it perfectly every time. And some garlic double mashed potatoes. And did I mention the perfect Grey Goose Gibsons? Best I've... More

We have eaten here before, also with mixed results. This weekend the petite filet and crab cake were excellent, but the rack of lamb was tough and fatty. The banana cream pie was tasty and quite sweet. Dinner is pricey and one expects consistent good quality. The wait staff was appropriately attentive.

My husband and I have been going to 1776 for the last 5 years. The food is excellent and the staff are very pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. We always take our family and friends to 1776 because it is a restaurant where you receive excellent meals and friendship. The specials for the evening as well as the regular... More

Popped in for an early dinner. The seating area was bland, without delivering a steakhouse experience. Our waitress was nice, however lacking levels required for a steakhouse. We were not offered the pre-drinks menu or shown the steaks available, both of which another table had. No complaints on service, just not on a high enough par. Steaks were cooked perfectly,... More

My wife and I have been going to the 1776 House every time we Lewes for the last six or seven years. This past week was our last time. We were so disappointed. Service was terrible, steak was over cooked, no taste. Go to Stripper Bites and have a great meal.

Steaks were tough and over cooked. Side dishes lacked flavor. Martinis were made weak and tasteless.

Came for after Friday night dinner with my boyfriend. He had not been here but I had and loved it before. We had an amazing waitress (Michelle- thank you!) that knew what she was doing and treated us very well, which as a young couple is sometimes hard to find. The appetizers were great- baked Brie and stuffed mushroom with... More

Where to start with all the things that were not done right? In no particular order: The mini room for our group was very undersized and 1776 knew how many people to expect. No changes were allowed without getting a hard time for the limited choices picked by the group leader. The selections included 2 soups, both of which were... More
