Wonderful!

Just back from a 2 night stay at the Mill Inn. Roaring fire in the bar, great portions of food and very reasonably priced real ales. Breakfast was massive ! Staff very friendly. Will definitely return in the better weather as it's an excellent base for some great Lakeland walks.

Had lunch here last year after going for a walk 1st with our little one. Slightly of the beaten track but that adds to the appeal as most people eating here are on or have just completed a walk. Very good food with big portions. Have eaten here at least 3 times now and generally have the pie and chips... More

My wife and I took our daughter and son in law also our 2 year old grand daughter for a meal at The Mill Inn the other day - we live at Stainton which is only a fifteen minute drive away. There was a warm welcome and a nice fire, with a good atmosphere enhanced by people having just completed... More

Plenty of tables considering its a small Inn, they had a good choice on the menu, always make sure you leave enough room for a sweet. Waiting on staff were very pleasant and were happy to get anything for you.

We went out for supper, just 4 of us. 3 of the main courses were good, but the battered haddock was watery and flavourless. Dessert was also variable; the cheesecake was more like mousse and there was unexpected fruit in the creme brulee. And when we got the bill, there seemed to have been a fifth person in on our... we were really impressed with this place on our 1st visit, so much so we visited again a year later, the beer is good and the food pretty good too, i would say my meal wasn't quite as good as the previous year but thats being picky and probably down to my choice of meal, it was still one of... Booked a table here with great expectations after reading reviews and hearing from the locals, but left after barely an hour very disappointed. We took about 15 minutes looking over the menu and wine list while enjoying a local ale and cider before ordering a bottle of wine. Hardly was the wine brought to the table, opened and poured than... The Mill Inn has had a number of tenants over the last few years and the standard has varied. However, I am pleased to say that the present owner, Andrew, has improved things dramatically. My wife and I have visited the establishment twice this year with a local Luncheon Club. The food was beautifully presented, the portions more than adequate... More
