Well worth a visit

We were a group of 10 who were staying in the village a short walk from the Mill Inn, so naturally we went there for an evening meal, sadly because of the size of our party we were seated in the dining room instead of the lounge area where there were also many tables. We were the only people in... read more

Halloween night, and busy, but we managed to walk in and get a table. Menu is sensible, with a range of large and lighter meals. The Pesto chicken was very good!

Cycling round the Blencathra/Skiddaw massive is a very enjoyable day trip from the Keswick area with minimal travel on major roads. The Mill is ideally placed for lunch on the clockwise circuit and provides an excellent pub lunch with draft beer. There are not too many hills on the last leg to Keswick via Scales apart from all the gates... More

It's a lovely spot under Blencathra, well out of the way, quiet, peaceful with a pretty little river babbling through the hamlet. Garden had deafening bird song. The décor and service were a bit ropey but the lamb burger with melted brie is in the top five burgers of my life ! Really great chips and all the other food... More

We stayed here for a night, and had dinner also. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was very tasty. Breakfast was filling also. A good place to eat at and to stay if you're walking anywhere near Blencathra.

Stayed three nights in early October. First time I've had decent weather in the Lakes.I think the hotel has 7-8 rooms, bit small because it's an old building, but clean and comfortable. Excellent full English breakfast, very good evening meals at reasonable prices and friendly staff.

Lovely pub between Penrith and Keswick, Visited with friends who are local to the area, friendly staff and we were dealt with quickly albeit quiet for a Saturday night. Rather a long wait considering it was quiet but well worth the wait, the food was hot and presented well, Four mains, Gammon, Fish and Chips, Salmon and Sea Bass were all... More

This is a remote, quiet place, yet only a few miles from the A66 with easy access to Penrith and Keswick. An ideal place for a peaceful break. The accommodation is clean and well-appointed, the staff friendly and helpful, and the food plentiful and good. Highly recommended.

Our party of three bowled up at seven in the evening on a whim without a reservation but managed to secure a table nonetheless. After perusing the menu we decided upon a variety of dishes, including a vegetarian option. Our fare was served up in fairly good time by the cheerful young people waiting at table. As usual the food... More
