3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2014 NEW

We went out for supper, just 4 of us. 3 of the main courses were good, but the battered haddock was watery and flavourless. Dessert was also variable; the cheesecake was more like mousse and there was unexpected fruit in the creme brulee. And when we got the bill, there seemed to have been a fifth person in on our... we were really impressed with this place on our 1st visit, so much so we visited again a year later, the beer is good and the food pretty good too, i would say my meal wasn't quite as good as the previous year but thats being picky and probably down to my choice of meal, it was still one of... Booked a table here with great expectations after reading reviews and hearing from the locals, but left after barely an hour very disappointed. We took about 15 minutes looking over the menu and wine list while enjoying a local ale and cider before ordering a bottle of wine. Hardly was the wine brought to the table, opened and poured than... The Mill Inn has had a number of tenants over the last few years and the standard has varied. However, I am pleased to say that the present owner, Andrew, has improved things dramatically. My wife and I have visited the establishment twice this year with a local Luncheon Club. The food was beautifully presented, the portions more than adequate... More

Our B&B made a reservation for us at this old pub, advising us that is was good value for money and friendly - it was both! You drive along a narrow lane until you begin to wonder whether you have made a wrong turn, and then there it is, nestled into the hillside and overlooking a stream. It isn't fancy,... More

Heresy, it seems, is still a crime in certain parts of Cumbria: the hamburger I was served at the Mill Inn in Mungrisdale was so badly disfigured that I can only assume its source animal had been tried as a bovine nonconformist and burned at the stake. Aside from the abysmal fare, expect grubby tables and furnishings taken from the... More

We enjoyed sitting outside in the evening with drinks. The Landlord does a great brandy/coffee. Liked everything except dogs are allowed in eating area I don't know about the bedrooms but think they must be?

A bit out of the way but worth the drive. The menu was very varied to suit all tastes. Great large portions too
