Lovely food, v friendly chef!

Stopped by here before heading up into the hills. Arrived before midday (official food start time) but were allowed to make ourselves welcome, and our food order was swiftly taken. I read plenty of good reviews below but we must of missed something? In fairness the pub was undergoing renovation the night we went which meant a dining room was out of use and the gents were using the ladies loos. Furthermore the barman looked like he was new to the job and finding his feet. All that aside the... More

Stopped by here before heading up into the hills. Arrived before midday (official food start time) but were allowed to make ourselves welcome, and our food order was swiftly taken. Our 9 month old baby was welcomed with kindness / enthusiasm too, despite attempting to wreak havoc on anything nearby. Proper pub feel. Dart boards on the wall, clearly well... More

Nice Lakeland pub with cosy interior and some outside tables with a good view over the beck (slight criticism of the lack of separation of car park from garden). Friendly staff (not quite enough of them perhaps?), well kept beer and good (but 'pub' ) food. We had the house burger which was excellent. Felt and tasted home made and... More

Not very helpful when asking if we could put two tables together. Played darts while waiting for food. I lost. Straightforward pub food, reminded me of pub lunches we had on holiday as kids. Nice setting and reasonable price. Looks like a nice pub for a pint

Lovely setting with plenty of parking, ideal if staying at Thanet Well lodges. Open log fire to enjoy whilst eating or a separate dining room if preferred. Food was good with distinct flavours, not the cheapest but good value for the standard of food. Service was good and friendly staff.

A warm friendly welcome and log fire greeted us at The Mill Inn, an ideal Pub for Walkers, Dog lovers and folk who enjoy good traditional country pubs. We had very generous portions of Sandwiches and Chips for Lunch accompanied by excellent Beers. The Mill Inn is a little of the beaten track but well worth looking out for, we... More

Called in for a meal after lovely morning walking in the fells above Mungrisdale. The staff imediately made us and Henry our labrador very welcome! The bar is very comfortable and homely and the selection of real ales on offer will ensure that we return to sample some more! The spiced potted haggis starter was gorgeous and has given us... More

Just back from a 2 night stay at the Mill Inn. Roaring fire in the bar, great portions of food and very reasonably priced real ales. Breakfast was massive ! Staff very friendly. Will definitely return in the better weather as it's an excellent base for some great Lakeland walks.

Had lunch here last year after going for a walk 1st with our little one. Slightly of the beaten track but that adds to the appeal as most people eating here are on or have just completed a walk. Very good food with big portions. Have eaten here at least 3 times now and generally have the pie and chips... More
