The office voted on the Charcoal Chef to celebrate the recent National Hamburger Day. We'd never been there before, but we all thought a charcoal-broiled burger was appropriate for the occasion. Overall, this is a pretty cool restaurant. I liked the country-themed decor and the simplicity of everything. The burgers were very good, as well as the sides. I thought... More

Been coming here for years. A truly nice place to eat and meet friends. Food is good. Prices good. Best burgers around with real charcoal cooking.

I lived in Woodbury for many years and the Charcoal Chef was always one of my favorite places for a good down-home lunch or dinner. I still go back whenever I'm in the area visiting friends. It's a welcoming old fashioned kind of place -- beer, burgers, homemade soups, great fish and chips, good pies and rice puddings for dessert.... More

The food is good. Family friendly and toddler friendly. If you are looking for reasonable prices you can't beat it.

Have been coming here for years. Although it has declined a little it's still a great place to get a great burger, fries and a real milkshake.

We just stumbled in by chance without knowing anything about the place. The decor is suitable for an inexpensive eatery on a country road. Service friendly. Many local people, including farmers eat there. The food was moderately good. Trouts from charcoal grill very good though a little dry. Broccoli soup with cheese outstanding. You will not leave the place hungry... More

I first went to this restaurant in the late 1970s. I thought at the time that it was a gem that had survived from another time. It reminded me of a place on Rt 6 in Rhode Island the we used to go to on our way to a summer vacation. It was one of those restaurants that served travelers... More

My husband , brother inlaw and sister in law, went for dinner last night, the food was dry and overcooked, the scallops were not good at all , they had a funny taste, the waitress was very friendly, I will take the time to go to Jimmies in west haven for real seafood, we will not be back

This restaurant has been part of my life since I was a child. It is unassuming and casual, as well as family-friendly. The menu rarely changes, which is good because it consists of good old-fashioned comfort food. Burgers, shakes & fries are staples.. There is a full bar which also serves up delightful kiddie drinks such as Shirley Temples. The... More
