This is a popular birthday party spot for younger kids and teens, and that has probably kept Sakura afloat for all these years. The hibachi grill experience is fun for youngsters and adolescents for sure. But the food is mediocre at best and the place is normally crowded and chaotic. The sushi is nothing exceptional and there are multiple good... More

Poorly managed, dirty, uneven Diner Review • Apr 10, 2014 Edit There's a joke about this place among the locals--people go every three years to remember why they never go--usually dragged there for kids parties. I have heard stories about everything from worms in sushi to dirty utensils. Definitely avoid this place if anyone in your party has dietary restrictions--there... More

First went here 10 plus years ago and did not have a pleasant meal. Poor service, rude receptionist and had to wait for a long time even though we had a reservation. Glad to see nothing has changed in 2014. Probably the same people working there. Can't imagine how the town of Westport puts up with their attitudes, We were... More

I love the food here, they have the best hibachi in Connecticut. The quality of the food and service is far superior to other hibachi establishments. Definitely need a reservation to get into hibachi tables in the evening.

Returning to Sakura with friends for a Teppanyaki evening after 15 years was OK but not the memory we had hoped. It seems like nothing had changed, which include the furnishings that seemed to have absorbed decades of steaming oils. But the idea of preparing Teppanyaki is to excel in cook artistry, but at Sakura they have chosen to leave... More

I usually go with daughter and gandkids. They love it. Just wads there with another couple. Terrific. Loved the scallops.

This is my favorite Hibachi restaurant of all time. The restaurant also has a Sushi bar and table service for all kinds of Japanese food. The whole Hibachi experience is excellent. They don't necessarily make you wait until the whole table is full, which is good at slower times when you're the first to start a table. The food quality... More

Being a Westport native,Sakura was the very first Japanese restaurant that I ever went to and my first experience with sushi(about 30 years ago.) I have been going ever since and appreciate the Sakura experience despite the addition of a few "new" Japanese restaurants in town. Personally, I like sitting in the lounge or when weather permits, the outdoor deck.... More

We finally returned to Sakura after a long hiatus. This place has the goods. Every detail of the dining experience is well orchestrated. It is fun dining . The patrons are multi generational. The food is top notch and priced accordingly. The restaurant was packed on the week day evening that we attended. Parents with kids, seniors and twenty somethings... More

We have been going to Sakura for 20 years and have always had a great time. It is a great place to go for birthdays and anniversaries. The chefs are always very entertaining and the service is great.
