I am surprised this place is not always packed. The chef and wait staff are so accommodating to special requests from the menu. The salmon is the best I have ever had! They will make you whatever you want. Everyone knows everyone else; it's a real homey feel. Just go in and ask for John. He is the owner's son... More

Stopped here for brunch on impulse one Sunday. We were seated out on the terrace where there was a piano player...We LOVED the atmosphere, and the service was very friendly. The food was very reasonable for downtown Westport, and tasty at that. We ordered off of the specials' menu, so I'm not sure if these selections are typically available, but... More

After visiting the town of Westport, CT, we decided to drop in and have a burger. We sat outside on the side porch adjacent to the outside patio up stairs. The views were amazing. The food was ok, not great, but pricey. A burger costs $12.00, which that came with chips and cold slaw. The rest rooms were very small... More

We've eaten at The Tavern several times and have yet to be disappointed. Diverse menu, wonderful specials and outstanding service all make for a great dining experience. Prices are very reasonable. And dining on the patio is just a nice way to spend an evening.

Have had many enjoyable lunch and dinners here but just discovered that they have a brunch menu that is available until 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday. It was perfect for us. My wife ordered one of their Flat Breads covered with bacon, spinach, goat cheese and honey. She loved it. I had had their Breakfast Panini which came with... More

After a couple year's absence I have returned to Tavern a dozen times in recent months and never been disappointed. Somehow the menu continues to evolve slowly with the times, introducing new dishes and lighter salads while keeping the old New England standbys like chowder and oysters. Meantime, the dining room is frozen in another, more comfortable and relaxed era,... More

From the tomato fennel soup to the PEI mussels, smoked brisket and chicken dishes all were delicious. We ate on the patio because we had the dog with us. Very accommodating. I definitely would recommend this restaurant.

I had 'Tavern smoked Salmon' as a meal. It was very good and filling. My daughter ordered 'New England Clam Chowder'. She did not want to eat, so I tried to eat. It was the worst Clam Chowder soup I've ever had. It is not chowder but boiled milk with some clams, vegies and potatoes. She also ordered 'Curried Chicken... More

I was asked if I had ever tried a place called "Tavern on Main" in Westport CT. I said lets go. When you first walk in you pass the bar area. The dining room has a fire place, all wood décor, and an outside dining area. I was their for lunch and we eat outside. The deck has many tables... More

I just had lunch at Tavern on Main. After a 20 year hiatus, a friend suggested we met there since it was central and not so loud that one can't hear themselves think. When you enter, its still vintage Westport but make your way to either the middle dining room or in our case the outside covered deck and it... More
