I had a business meeting near Hartford Ct and arriving early wanted to drive to the coast and have a seafood dinner. The first two restaurants I checked were not open yet for dinner so I browsed the selections in my car's GPS and found Bills to be nearby the town of Old Saybrook where I first stopped. Hoping to... Let's start out with the good---the atmosphere and experience is great. The food, not so much. We found hair in 3 of our 8 meals here, and now every time I think about it, I want to throw up. We sent 2 meals back (and got new ones), but by then everyone had lost their appetite. We didn't even bother... More

At Bill's, food isn't what you're buying; it's the experience of sitting outside by the tidal river and taking in the picnic table atmosphere. Sure, the food is well-prepared but the menu is limited and the same fare is available at just about any shoreline establishment. So eat your fish and chips and enjoy. The place is very well run... Stopped here for lunch before deep sea fishing. Place was hopping. We got table away. Waiter was right there. Food was amazing. If you love seafood have to stop here. Nice easygoing atmosphere. You can choose to sit outside under umbrellas. Nice view of the marsh. Prices were not too bad. We absolutely loved the clam chowder. Fish and chips... More

Sat outside, menus thrown on table by server with an attitude. Ordered 75 $ worth of seafood. Seafood platter for two was skimpy, yet fried well. Chowder was so, so... Your definitely paying for the views bc the food isn't great and service was awful. Waitress never asked how as anything was and only smiled when dropping the check in... More

My father and I were heading down to the area to drop off a truck he had sold. We wanted to go eat somewhere near the water even though it was a rainy day. We stopped in here and we loved it. I'm not a big seafood person, but my father is and he enjoyed steamers and two lobsters. We... More

Just got back from Bill's Seafood Restaurant, and wow, what a disappointment. I ordered the whole belly calm dinner, and was anticipating sinking my teeth into some sweet, tender, fried clams. What I got instead were tremendously overcooked clams that were actually hard and crunchy...yuck! I managed to eat about three clams because I was hungry, but left the rest.... More

Today was not my first visit and it will not be the last to this grate seafood restaurant. The food is what any seafood restaurant on the cost would have except this one is right on the water inlet. There is plenty of seating on the its large Deck, the outer seat's come with thee own Seagulls that fly around... More
