You can do this terrific restaurant for $14 or less a meal

This eatery in an unpromising spot along Route 1, is well-known for its food, but its bistro menu is equally as good and you can get a meal for $14 or less. The service is impeccable and professional; the food served beautifully and the price, right.. I've eaten here a number of times; it's the... read more

Food was delicious and nicely presented. Best Halibut I've had in a long time. Waiter was very attentive. We visited on a Monday evening and the parking lot was packed, so that is always a good indication of a popular restaurant. My only complaint and the reason I gave it 3 stars is that I had a pretty severe allergic... More

While on a business trip in Connecticut I dined at Cafe Routier and enjoyed it thoroughly. I was by myself, which can sometimes translate into less attention from the staff, but that was not the case at Cafe Routier. Diego was appropriately attentively - present when needed, but not hovering. The menu is small, but had some wonderful choices. There... More

Let me start by saying how much we love the Connecticut shoreline. Lived down here for 14 years now and from the beaches to the people to the quaint towns and feel, from Branford to Old Saybrook is a true hidden eden. With this, both locals and tourists flock here and you'd think there would be at least ten maybe... More

I've ordered take out from here many times because the food is always well cooked and well seasoned and only takes 15 minutes to prepare. I had the pleasure of dining there yesterday and thought I should leave a review. The wait staff is extremely attentive and knowledgable. They have a decent wine selection and the menu is actually 3... More

Ate at this restaurant while staying in the area. The atmosphere was lovely and the food was very good. Nice menu choices, presentation and quality. Staff was not terribly attentive. It was a Saturday night, and the restaurant was very busy, but service should have been better.

Steak Frites and Fresh Trout. Signature dishes here. The staff was very friendly, quick service and reasonable prices.

Cafe Routier never disappoints us. We have gone there at least 5 times per year for the past 20 yars, and we have never had a bad meal there. Since they opened their informal cafe with bar menu, we go there at least once or twice each month....stopping by on our way to and from our grandchildren's house in Rhode... More

Thank you, as usual, for a great dinner. Tonight, it was mom's night out and you didn't disappoint. This is a great place for a date night, too. The lounge menu is very well priced and a great value.

Fresh, well cooked food. Perfect duck magret (tender, tasty, not greasy, not overspiced or sauced, so the taste was actually duck); lovely rack of lamb; terrific lobster crostini starter (generous lobster nearly unadorned but for butter, vanilla, parsley); huge, attractive profiteroles. Vegetables could use work, and orzo with the duck was distinctly uninspired. Tables, carpet, entire ambience a little dark... More
