Wonderful service and attention to details. If you are looking for a beach atmosphere in this small shoreline town, you need to go elsewhere. This restaurant is a more serious dining experience, well suited for quiet conversation and sipping wine. Lingering in a dining room booth for the full dinner experience makes an evening memorable. The menu is somewhat limited however everything on it is outstanding. Fried oysters are one of our favorite apps and their pan seared salmon always gets rave reviews.

The Chicken & Dumplings was perfect. Cold night, cozy atmosphere. Our server Dana was sweet and could answer our every question and even paired a wine by the glass with our dinner. We live so close that we may just start calling this place our go to spot. Very good experience.

Expect large portions and mediocre but friendly service. The trout was excellent, truly special. The fries are about as good as Five Guys, which means excellent for fast food, not impressive for more expensive dining. I had a special appetizer, which was a pasta dish with oxtail sauce. The flavor was excellent but the pasta was over cooked, on the... More

Always a lively crowd in a cozy setting makes this restaurant a fun and enjoyable visit. Great seasonal menu items, along with a wide selection from sliders to great fish, steaks and specials. Whether you prefer eating in the lounge or dining room, service is always attentive. Would love to see more beer selections, but the lines are limited.

This is one of my wife's and my favorite restaurants. The bar area is casual which is where we like to eat. You can select from the regular dinner menu or the bar menu (little bits). The menu changes seasonally but they keep a select group of items year round. Try the fries and any other dish. They are all... More

Bold statement right? Well, everyone is entitled to their opinion and certainly CT, with it's location wedged between Boston and New York, has no shortage of fantastic high dining experiences. But, since moving to this area in 2005, my wife and I have tried many different restaurants, and this has taken the top spot and remains there. We've been there... More

We have visited her many times before through the years. This was a big celebration for us, however, our time was very disappointing. The menu is very limited, however, we found some nice items on the menu. What was most disappointing was the mediocre service. We had to ask for EVERYTHING. I have to be gluten free and there seemed... More

This has always been our favorite restaurant for special occasions. We were deeply disappointed with a recent visit. I believe the former chef left a couple of years ago, and the current replacement is not up to the task. Our appetizers were tasteless; our main courses were overcooked and lacked imagination. The one saving grace was the desserts, both exquisite.

A trip to coastal Connecticut is not complete without a visit to our favorite place, Café Routier. We dined with another couple last week and the food was better than ever! All four of us had fabulous meals thanks to our waiter who recommended the very best on the menu. My husband said the he had never had better short... More
