I recently had an opportunity to try Saoco for dinner with my husband. Some friends have told me it's a great dining experience and they were spot on. Great service and food. There is something for everyone whether you like chicken, beef, pork or seafood. I loved it and my only regret is it took me so long to try... More

I came here often during college for food & drinks. Empanadas were always great - especially the spicy dipping sauce which is more like a salsa than sauce but it is delicious on the Empanada if you can take the heat. While I can't say they have the best columbian food, I have enjoyed every meal. Their dinner plates are... More

I started with some empanadas and then had the Bandeja Paisa. The empanadas were VERY tasty, great stuff, sadly the Bandeja paisa was not. I SO wanted to love this place, and while I was eating, I was thinking (i guess I was hoping) it was really good. I am not Colombian, far from it, so I can understand that... More

I chose an empanada for my appetizer. The crust was perfect: not dry but also not greasy. The meat inside was nicely spiced. I had the Colombiana as my drink. It is a carbonated soft drink and reminded me of Gumbay punch. Very nice. I ordered the tongue and it was cooked to perfection!! The sauce that comes on it... More

The word "saoco" is Spanish slang for something with great flavor or very well performed, like an excellent musical piece or a delicious meal. The Saoco restaurant in West Haven lives up to its name. The meals are genuinely Colombian and very nicely prepared. The wait staff is courteous and helpful. Most of the patrons are latino, which in itself... More

We are locals and have wanted to try Saocco for a while since we had never tried Colombian cuisine. We arrived on a Saturday night around 7pm with a party of 4. The place was about 3/4 full. Most of the patrons were Latino...so that was a good sign. The decor was minimalist. Everything was clean. There is a full... More

This is a small family-run retaurant in a nondescipt, small strip mall off the beaten path. It is absolutely worth a visit! The extensive menu has something for everyone, with a nice variety of appetizers, seafood, meats and spicy choices for adventurous diners. The service is excellent and the restaurant has full bar service. The decor is colorful and the... More

Unless you are Colombiano, or a foodie, you probably have no idea what to expect at a place that specializes in Columbian cuisine. Since I am neither, I accepted a friend's invitation to dine here on blind faith. I'm very glad I did. Thanks to some college Spanish, I recognized one of the appetizers; "empanadas." These were savory turnovers filled... More
