A very pleasurable evening recently at Max's Oyster Bar in West Hartford Center, which was a Father/Daughter date for us. Commenced with Cocktails and Wine by the Glass, and first up was a delicious Raw Seafood Platter App, chock full of iced Ocean Delights! Entrees included Paella and Tuna Steak. The Paella was good, the Tuna outstanding. Outstanding tableside Service... More

Not my first visit and this meal certainly solidified this restaurant in my excellent category. The menu, although not overwhelming at all, was full of wonderful sounding dishes that made it difficult to decide. So we opted for 2 of every oyster to get us warmed up! They were all delightful but the differences were noticeable and having the 'cheat... More

Never disappointed visiting any of the MAX restaurants. The flagship is in West Hartford, and is consistently good. The menu changes with seasonal selections, and the oysters should not be overlooked. We live out of the area, and never pass up the chance when visiting friends in W Hartford to stop by for lunch, drinks or dinner.

The food and wine is really good here. I think it should have had a few more menu choices. The thing that I thought strange was the country music playing which made me feel like I was in a saloon. When some of your menu items are $45 it probably wouldn't hurt to consider the mood your music choices create.... More

This is one of my favorite restaurants in WeHa. Good ambiance, although it is quite loud and a little slow but the atmosphere makes up for that. This is the type of restaurant where you establish favorite dishes - ie. my lunchtime fav is the fishwich ((my daughter likes the lobster roll) and my dinner fav is the scallops when... More

Excellent meal here. Our server (Vikki) was most friendly and a real treat to have that night, outgoing, pleasant and enthusiastic about her job! We started out with two appetizers, the jumbo lump crab cake and lobster claws from the raw bar. Both were excellent, the lobster claws were only $5 each for 1.5 pound claws, great bargain and some... More

Dinner with my wife on a warm summer Sunday evening. We sat outside on the patio. If you are a big seafood eater, this is the place for you. They have local catches, a quality raw bar with locally sourced fish/shell fish and some more unique items. When I went I ordered the Squid Ink pasta with the grilled Rock... More

Being a big seafood eater in central CT, I am disappointed with the lack of options for good seafood. Max Oyster Bar is my staple seafood restaraunt. The oysters, raw bar, meals and drinks never disappoint. I also love the atmosphere and outdoor patio in the summer. Recently I tried their signature lobster dish - the pan seared lobster -... More

Business dinner in crowded, bustling evening crowd. Numerous seafood entries, raw and cooked. Service was genuine and helpful. Great Cabernet wine recommendation.

Oysters from both the East coast and West coast were very good, but at $3 a pop the bill can add up very fast. The lobster roll had large chunks of meat inside and was a good value. One of our party had salmon with a barbecue glaze and raved about it. The trout was covered with a pickel relish... More
