I have always loved Max's raw oysters, and on my recent lunch visit on November 5, 2008, they were excellent. No complaints there. BUT...I do have complaints about a couple of other things: 1) An icy reception when I arrived--this is nothing new. Rarely do I get a smile and a warm feeling from the front-of-house. We go there several times a year. Excellent cold seafood plates, crab and lobster and shrimp. Oh boy! Good service, good setting. Recommend it. Cooked (hot) dishes solid, but largely unexceptional. more

The rawbar selection here is incredible...I don't think I've ever been able to get to the entree menu, the oysters are just too good! The lobster bisque is also very good, and they make a perfect martini. more

the service also was lacking...our waiter only came by once and it was only in passing. He never stopped even for a split second to ask how the food was. He asked it while walking to another table! more
