I went for my birthday and they had great food! Instead of bread they bring you these carrot sticks with horseradish...so tastey! The fish was amazing and the service was great. The waiter suggested some wines and they were perfect! I would love to eat there all the time, but I don't think I could afford it. more

Every entree is overpriced. The side dishes are excellent and different. The fried oysters are fresh and tasty. Calamari is so-so. The wait staff is not overly friendly. If you get drinks, they are much friendlier. Seems rather pretentious, and not deservedly so. more

I have always loved Max's raw oysters, and on my recent lunch visit on November 5, 2008, they were excellent. No complaints there. BUT...I do have complaints about a couple of other things: 1) An icy reception when I arrived--this is nothing new. Rarely do I get a smile and a warm feeling from the front-of-house. We go there several times a year. Excellent cold seafood plates, crab and lobster and shrimp. Oh boy! Good service, good setting. Recommend it. Cooked (hot) dishes solid, but largely unexceptional. more

The rawbar selection here is incredible...I don't think I've ever been able to get to the entree menu, the oysters are just too good! The lobster bisque is also very good, and they make a perfect martini. more
