Nothing fancy here, just plain ol' home cookin'. You often have a choice of sitting in the tavern with is very cozy with a fireplace or in the main dining room which has more windows overlooking a river. In the nice weather, you can sit on a narrow porch on the much larger patio. One disadvantage is the parking when... More

FOOD - They have an extensive menu and a great number of daily specials. I had the veal short ribs dusted in chanterelle over something like pappardelle. It was very hearty and delicious. Not a refined kind of dish or restaurant... But perfect for a warm tavern in the fall & winter months. WINE - the wine selection is -... More

We stopped in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon when it was very crowded with day-trippers who were out to see the fall foliage. The tavern is very pretty with a beautiful painted mural covering the tavern walls. The food was good for such a crowded restaurant. We had lunch, soup and salad. A very nice stop for lunch on... Nestled in the quiet corner of CT, this tavern is a solid choice for average service, ambience and food alike. While the soup was very tasty and the salad inventive, the NY strip steak was fatty and mediocre. The restaurant offers only wine and beer on the menu and when asked for a cocktail menu, the waiter told us that... More

Always reliable for a pleasant meal and atmosphere. A little pricey but usually worth it. Best to hit it off peak, it can get a little crowded.

This is a nice neighborhood restaurant. The restaurant capacity far exceeds the parking lot capacity - especially in the summer. The bar is great for dining alone. The service is always very good. I have had most of the comfort food dishes like Meatloaf, Chicken Pie, Tenderloin tips. They are always on target. If you can find a parking place,... More

My boyfriend and I met my in-laws at the pub for lunch. The ambience was fantastic -- very New England. We started off with a spinach and goat cheese salad, which was absolutely delicious. I had a hamburger. One of the best I have ever had! My boyfriend had the chicken sandwich, which he also found delicious. We highly recommend... More

Our son and daughter-in-law's wedding and reception was at GW's last weekend. The Hors d'oeuvres were the best that I have ever had in my life - anywhere - and we have traveled and eaten out quit a bit. Tempura vegtables, Ruben balls, pulled pork quesadillas, shrimp cocktail, grilled shrimp, crab cakes, grilled eggplant, grilled squash, batter fried broccoli that... More

The location is in a nice part of CT. The building is circa 1850 and has been nicely renovated/decorated. There is a nice expansive outdoor dining area. The food is quite good and most is excellent. Prices vary between $11-30 which is reasonable. A good variety of chicken, fish, veal, beef and many daily specials. The lot will be filled... More
