Italian cooking at its best is ALL ABOUT respecting fresh ingredients. Everything we ate--from the salad to the meat to the pasta--was fresh and delicious. This is not nouvelle, cutting-edge cuisine. But the most charming element of this place is its timelessness. (Such is the American Dream that) family-run, Italian restaurants like this are becoming anachronisms...and how much poorer we... This place came highly recommended and it was certainly good but not outstanding. Service was on the slow side and the waitress was not knowledgeable about the menu. The table side prepared Caesar salad was excellent.

Al dente - never heard about it! Overcooked pastas, vegetables. Service - nothing to complain about. Nothing to rave about either. Overall - nothing special - overpriced, boring Italian-American food.

This place seems to rest on its laurels, assuming it has some. The greens with sausage were tasty, but the shrimp cocktail had watery shrimp and cocktail sauce that tasted like weak catsup. Arugula salad was good, but the garden salad had dressing that was mostly vinegar. My sole was bland accompanied by mushy, squash, and a hard chunk of... More

The Venetian is a old fashioned Italian restaurant with a steady clientele of patrons who go there more out of habit and remembrance than for the pleasure of its offerings. The food is passable more often than not, but nothing great and occasionally awful. The proprietor, Michael, is a warm and splendid host with a towel hanging from his wrist... More

Had last night before the Vince Gill concert. Greeted nicely, seated promptly as we had reservations (though seated in the main thoroughfare). They appeared to be unprepared for concert-goers. However food was ok...nothing wrong and nothing great. I was confused a bit with the "half boiled potato" placed on the plate next to 6 green beans and 1/4 cup of... More

We have been going to the Venetian in Torrington Connecticut for over 20 years and have never had anything but a perfect experience. We had Mother's Day dinner there this past Sunday, and all we can say is another perfect dining experience! The Venetian is a very special restaurant, that is so hard to find in today's world. Having dinner,... More

This reminds me of our time spent in NY in Little Italy and those little gems that has you saying, Wow, just Wow... Pasta, house made, sauces are authentic as the women making them with the integrity and love past down from generations. Every dish, every starter, is meticulously executed with the attention to balancing of flavors and the simplicity... More

This is the best restaurant in Torrington - bar none! We had a family party a few years ago, cousins from Italy and their friends and our cousin Paolo said - "Best Italian Food in America at the end of the meal!" He was staying in NYC with his friends. You should make a reservation on weekends and if the... More

Before taking in a show at the Warner Theatre in Torrington on Jan. 23, we had dinner at the Venetian. We had eaten there many times before and it was always good. Mike Dilullo has owned and managed this restaurant for over 40 years. It is by far the best in town. We chose our favorite on the menu, veal... More
