Service begins daily at 11:30am, and the kitchen stays open late on performance evenings for after-theatre dining. Select from crisp salads and hot soups, creative Small Plates, Perfect Burgers of hand formed Angus patties on house-baked rolls, popular sandwiches, and Big Plate comfort favorites. House-made desserts are a specialty. The antique mahogany bar soars 14 feet above the trendy zinc counter, and presides over northwest Connecticut's largest offering of craft-brewed beers. 24 brands are available on tap, with the bottle selection at more than 70. The well-rounded wine list is popularly priced, with several wines offered by the glass. Customer service is a passion at Backstage. Busiest place in Torrington by far in my limited visit to the area. Good selection of beer for the adventurous whilst the food isn't bad at all. We didn't order anything huge but pleasantly surprised to see some alternative appetizers to the normal American fayre. My vegetarian friend had never tried Edamane and I insisted she try it and she... More

These are people who know what they are doing, and they do it well. A constantly changing full spectrum of great American beer, knowledgeable and helpful wait staff, good food (try the short ribs) and a great atmosphere make this one of my favorite weekend drop-in spots. I hang out with an IPA-centric crowd and they are always pleased with... More

i don't see how people are rating this any higher than three stars. We traveled here for a show at the Warner Theater and had lunch next door at the Backstage. They claim everything is cooked from scratch. IMPOSSIBLE! The menu is exhaustive and does not lend itself, nor does it taste, made from scratch. The mashed potatoes were salty,... More

I really enjoy Backstage. The food is always good, it is a fun place to meet up with friends. The wait staff are pleasant. I go there every couple of weeks and really like it!

Went for lunch because I wanted to try a special flight of beers they were having this weekend. They have 40 on tap (always changing and specials every Thursday and some weekends) and over 80 bottles. They originally said weren't available to late afternoon. We were almost done lunch when the asst. GM came over and asked if I still... More

This restaurant was across the road form our accommodation and had been recommended by the hotel staff. It is very large and was very busy as it was Saturday night. The noise level was quite high, but the lighting was so low it was difficult to read the menu. The food was typical of the area with large servings. The... More

My family and I have eaten here on several occasions. As well as have gotten take out. One time the food is great the next time you go the food is terrible. The service is usually pretty good. The food is way over priced in my opinion. Not to mention the last two times we went we were over charged!... More

This is not your typical upscale restaurant in this vicinity. That being said, it is a good restaurant and it is recommended. The good: 1. 40 beers on tap plus dozens of bottled brands. Enough said. 2. Menu has a very nice selection of pub type foods... some unusual items. 3. Wife had the crab cakes. Very good. We shared... More

Everytime. We have been here a number of times and have never been disappointed. The food is always good, the beer options are ridiculous and the staff is always on top of everything. We also have children with food allergies and they go out of their way to make sure they stay safe. Looking forward to our next visit.

if you like beer, you'll love this place; if you don't mind bar noise, you will like this place; the menu is long, the burger and seared tuna perfectly cooked, both tasted good, not great. is definitely now on the list of where to go when we want to eat late.
