Glad we stopped in Stonington

We needed to stop somewhere for lunch on our way to Rhode Island and found the Dog Watch Cafe in our New England Guidebook. Sometimes these recommendations can be a bit hit and miss - this one was certainly a hit. Great location overlooking the water and it was bustling. We both had fresh fish... read more

We liked it because the food was excellent & it was apparent that this is the place that the locals go. A bit pricy, but a treat for us.

I recently visited this establishment for dinner after work. I had used several apps to locate restaurants in the Mystic/Stonington area and this one's review score was better than most. I found my way to their address and upon arriving knew that this would be a treat (number of cars in parking lot). I went inside and because I was... More

We meet with friends on a regular basis, staff is friendly and great (bar staff always remembers your preferred beverage). Food is good, wholesome and specials in particular can be adventurous. We also take family with young kids there, very "family friend".

Finally getting around to commending the owners and staff of The Dogwatch for consistent excellence in service, food, and atmosphere! Our son recently graduated from Connecticut College in nearby New London, and every time we travelled to see him, eating and drinking at 'The Dog' was a must. Though we are from far away, we feel at home at the... More

Our innkeeper at the Inn at a Harbor Hill Marina recommended we try the muscles steamed in garlic butter and the seared tuna and the recommendation was right on.. The muscles were superb and the tuna devine. I could eat this every day! A very casual place with friendly wait staff. The tables have trivial pursuit cards to play while... More

Having never been to Connecticut, we were there for a college visit. Went to Dog Watch based on Trip Advisor's review and we were not disappointed. Located in an out of the way, beautiful spot on the water, it was quaint with lots of local flavor. Wonderful to walk on the docks and look at the boats and scenic water.... More

We stopped in Stonington on a recent trip to the area to park and walk around like we have many times before. Since it was coming close to lunch, in a discussion with someone we met while walking, he confirmed what we had read online: The Dog Watch Cafe is "where the locals go". So, we made it a point...
