A must try. Lived in Stamford my entire life and never thought of driving north but one Saturday night I decided "why not" and I'm glad I did. It has a country look with a warm atmosphere, maybe a little outdated. All dishes are reasonably priced as well as the cocktails. The specials were interesting which I like. The portions... More

A friend introduced me to Long Ridge Tavern today, where we met for lunch. She grew up in Stamford and had been many times. The rustic setting reminded me of another restaurant I like, the Old Mill in central Massachusetts. It was a weekday, so not very busy. We both ordered salads, mine was Poached Pear Salad, and I had... More

Enjoyed the entertainment, occassionly too loud. Wait staff rude and unavailable. We only go for the music and get treated poorly. Nice old building, cozy.

we live just up the road and go for standard fare ONLY, which for me is the onion soup and beet salad. Service is mediocre. It's cozy and predictable. The main entrees are VERY expensive for what they are. My husbands shrimp scampi was totally bland and he said "I could have made this in 18 seconds at home". If... More

I wanted a nice evening of desserts and drinks at this place with my girlfriend and mother. I thought this tavern would do it. Restaurant was semi alive, 1 quarter of tables were being used. As we come in, they sat us by the fire, perhaps thinking we would order a large dinner. We explained we were after desserts and... More

Christmas dinner at the Long Ridge Tavern was indeed a high point of my latest visit to my native Fairfield County. We enjoyed a cozy corner booth in a fairly quiet dining area. Caesar salad was excellent -- and huge. The wiener schnitzel was thin, moist and tasty -- obviously an excellent cut of veal. Servers were attentive and extremely... More

We went the the day before Thanksgiving and had low expectations since the place was very crowded and had a mediocre reputation. We were pleasantly surprised. The waitress made a custom cocktail for us and the food was quite good, particulary my veal.On the other hand it was pretty noisy near the fireplace while the room at the other end... More

After a long trip to DC returned home to have dinner at the Long Ridge Tavern. we had heard an advertisement on the radio. Food was OK, music was excellent but our waiter Tony was a middle aged jerk! In fact he was so arrogant we went to seek the manager but was unable to find her. Evidently the wait... More

Went as a group of seven friends for Sunday brunch buffet. Although the restaurant was empty except for another large group, they sat us right next to that noisy bunch. A shame as we wanted to have conversations without having to shout over them. Service was poor. For example, when the wait staff took my empty plate, he indicated that... More

I rarely eat in the dining room; it's a little 'colonial' for my taste. The tavern, however, is a lovely place for an evening meal, especially in the wintertime. There's a fireplace and often a jazz band on the weekends, and the menu is basic but varied enough to have something for everyone, including a perfectly-cooked burger and decent fries.
