Why is the excellence of this restaurant not widely known? La Bretagne still prepares fine food right at your table side, unheard of in these times. The quality and consistency is superlative. Their duck with wild rice prepared and carved at your table-side is the best I have had anywhere including NYC. Baby chicken, rack of lamb or dover sole... More

Four of us had lunch on New Year's Eve. They had a price fixed menu that a wonderful selection of appetizer, salad and entrée for $24.00. You could not beat it for price, variety and quality of the meal. Service was excellent, no one rushed us. The chicken marsala was delicious, the seafood crepe, a delight and the beef bourguignon... Arriving at my hotel in Old Greenwich (the Hyatt, also terrific) on the latish side of lunch, I asked a hotel staffer for a recommendation for either French or "pub," figuring the chance fur the former was pretty slim. Not this time! La Bretagne was a gem. Warm welcome, one of best salads ever (house w/ vinaigrette, lettuce and blue... More

Had dinner here last night. Cassoulet was overly fatty and salted, brook trout and sole just ok. Appetizers escargot and french onion soup unremarkable. Service was excellent but decor a bit tired. Sorry, not worth a return visit.

Just got back from lunch at La Bretagne and wish I was going to be hungry enough to make dinner reservations. The restaurant is just lovely. The service was excellent. The waiters took care of us the way it should be in every restaurant.. .We were waited on immediately and didn't have to wait or ask for anything after we... More

We have been going here regularly for many years and have always found their food delicious. Their duck is wonderful and even though it is on the menu for two people, they will prepare it for one. The pates are also very tasty.

We love this place. The owners and bar regulars always greet us like long-lost friends. Yes, we like to eat in the bar...it's a social thing. Our favorite is Steak au poivre, always cooked to order and never disappoints. The house salad is the best around. The Duck is cooked and served by the owner chef at your table, and... More

I just came back from this restaurant on Friday July 26. The food was very good but you could not get the full enjoyment from it because of the hot temperature in the place. I asked if they could turn up the air conditioning but they could not. It was a miserable evening and I don't understand why they could... More

Tucked away in an unlikely location sits this gem of a restaurant. The 50's ambiance is welcoming, particularl when coupled with consistently delectable meals and outstanding old world service. I cannot fail to mention that the price points are surprisingly reasonable. Come here and have a quiet and refined meal. Take away a memory.

A true throw back to a prior era. Ambiance is that of a restaurant of the 50's or 60's. service is excellent. Menu likely hasn't changed in a generation. Many of the entrees are plated table side in the true, old fashion way. Food is excellent, presentation that of another era. Clientele is anything but young. Thought I might look... More
