Starting off with an outstanding Masala Dosa, my wife ordered the lamb chop special, a generous serving of tasty lamb in a tomato based sauce surrounding a unique bed or rice. I enjoyed the Amchuri Murgh, chunks of chicken in a spicy mango sauce... outstanding, just the right amount of heat and not too sweet, the perfect balance. Overall a wonderful... More

Coromandel is part of a greater chain and the Southport location is very good in not quite Darien. Some of the dishes are actually pretty authentic although they do all the traditional non-Indian dishes such as Chicken Tikka Masalla so the Chef has obviously visited Birmingham in England. The service is really friendly and they get to know their regulars.... More

A couple of years ago, my wife and I had dinner at Coromandel. At the time, we felt that the restaurant was OK, but somewhat lacking in atmosphere. Last Friday, we decided to give it another shot. Very glad we did. First of all, the place was bustling. There's nothing like a busy restaurant to provide a pleasant atmosphere. Service... More

The title says it all. Know when they say hot they mean hot. The Nimma Rassam is delicious, and the service is great.

If you are ready to move beyond chicken tikka marsala and standard tandoori fare, it is time to visit Coromandel. They offer a wonderful selection of south Indian cuisine that is cooked to perfection. From the sweet to the scorchingly hot, there is something new for everyone. Great staff and terrific ingredients add to the pleasure of this great restaurant.... More

We've been here several times and the results are always the same -- a great meal enjoyed by all. Excellent service and food to match. Watch the hot stuff -- really hot!

Hot and Spicy-maybe too hot and spicey, and pricey. The owners try hard to please. Went once and haven't been tempted to return.

Went to the all you can eat lunch buffet and was very impressed with both the quality and selection of the food available and the service received! At $12 it's a little pricier than what I would normally spend for lunch but still well worth it. If they switched out a few dishes during the lunch service that would be... More

Our son requested his birthday dinner at Coromandel. We decided to try the Sunday Buffet at the Southport location instead of our usual Darien. Southport was very good. The food tasted fresh even though we arrived on the later side. The atmosphere is intimate and relaxing, even though it's literally right next to I-95. Service attentive but not overbearing. Quantity... More

We've toured India several times, from Haryana to Kerala and everything in between. We've eaten in places ranging from five star hotels like the Taj Mahal in Mumbai to hole-in-the-walls where workmen eat with their hands. We've never had a more delicious Indian meal than the one we were served last night at the Coromandel in Southport, CT. That the... More
