This review is long overdue. Funny, I readily review all those places so far away during my travels and neglect the ones close to home. Bernard's is my favorite restaurant in Connecticut. I have been here many times and never been disappointed. The food is superb and the service pleasant and professional. Such is my view of this restaurant that... More

Our experiences with Fairfield County dining have been mediocre at best, so when I went in search of a non-Asian place for Christmas dinner, I was not hopeful. I was very pleasantly surprised! The food was first rate. The lobster appetizer was good, with fresh lobster and a very nice sauce. My daughter raved about the parsnip soup. The guinea... More

Bernard's is the midpoint of our home destinations. One lfriend lives in Simsbury Ct and one in Highland Mills NY.. We've met for Brunch several times at Bernard's and have never been disappointed. The food is always fresh and creative.. The assortment of breads are all different and tasty. We had the pumpkin ravioli and a shrimp appetizer special. Mmmmmm... More

I dined at Bernard's twice in about a two week period, once on Thanksgiving. The first time, for brunch, both the food and service were outstanding. I did expect it to be "fancier" than it was, which didn't bother me at all, except for the fact that I was overdressed! Business casual is fine. The food really is fantastic, in... More

Went for brunch with friends. Busy and a bit noisy. Then the pianist began playing with a high soprano. Not exactly background music especially when she hit the high notes. I had a shrimp special in a pumpkin. Shrimp excellent; the medley in the pumpkin strange and somewhat tasty. The salmon and eggs Benedict were good but not inspired. The... More

I have eaten here a few times now. It is in the higher price range but it has always been a very good meal. Would be less if you are minimal with the alcohol. They always seem busy which adds to the atmosphere. I feel busy is a good sign. I would not be taking young children here.

Went last night for a post-Thanksgiving meal with extended family. The octopus starter was well-balanced and flavorful. For dinner, our group had the lobster, the duck duo, the venison duo, the pork chop, and the halibut. 3 of us ordered the lobster, and each of our servings varied quite a bit in size. The lobster was tender, the sauce delicious,... More

Been coming here for years. Food is always outstanding. Dined here tonight to celebrate my son's birthday. Food again great. Service not. Bartender / waiter did not deliver the drink my wife ordered. Waiter brought 5 of the chef's intermezzo - but we were a party of 6 and had to wait several minutes for the missing serving. My son's... More

Bernard's was an unexpected treat, although we had heard nice things about it. While the restaurant is large, it still has an intimate feel because it has multiple rooms. The menu is varied and creative, and the food was well prepared and presented. The wine list was truly exceptional and fairly priced. Sarah, our hostess and Bernard's wife, was most... More
