A legendary home for CT hotcakes

I don't know how long this place has been in business but this was a monthly required Saturday trip with the family as you could either style the pancakes to make yourself happy or find something on the huge menu to fill up on. Now it's just the two of us and a trip like today's is somewhat of... read more

We decided to try this new restaurant opened in Southbury which I believe is a part of the Orange, Ct branch. When we walked in no one was at front desk, we waited a minute or two and then someone said someone would be with us. A gentleman came and greeted us sort of and took us to a table.... More

Went there today for the first and last time. My waiter, Kelly, was slow, in a bad mood, made a face when I asked her to bring me milk in stead of the half and half they had on the table. I ordered a corn beef sandwich on rye bread with American cheese, which consisted of two pieces of overly... More

I was very impressed with the food and service at Chip's. My husband an I stopped here for breakfast on Memorial Day weekend on our way to Mystic based on the reviews on Trip Advisor. The place was busy and there were only a few tables available at 9am. The host was able to seat us promptly and even offered... More

Went their for Mother's Day! My daughter stood on line and gave name because we were 10 people. Wait wasn't too bad. At first I thought I was going to order French toast and then I realized it is really a pancake house. I had the turtle pancakes. It is pancakes with chocolate chips, caramel chips and chopped pecans on... More

I have been to the Chips in Orange and Fairfield Connecticut several times. The food is consistently good and their famous pancakes should be famous. The service is always friendly and even during peak periods the staff is efficient. They are known for their breakfast and I suggest sticking with breakfast. If you want more of a meal there are... Drove an hour to finally visit because I heard the pancakes are amazing. Ummm.. No. Pancakes are really good but eggs & bacon were pitiful. Coffee was tinted water - bad for diner standards. They've got a variety of flavored syrups (same as iHop..) but no variety of pancakes besides buttermilk & whole wheat. Overall the waitress was chipper &... More

We stopped in Chip's Family Restaurant at about 10:30 AM on a Sunday morning. There was a line forming, including a party of 17 who had called ahead to be sure that they had a spot. The hostess was a little vague when explaining to the 'new to the line' as to which particular group they were behind, and in... More

Long story, short: Three tired adults and six hungry teenagers in New Haven on a dreary Saturday, looking for a quick but satisfying lunch. Pizza!? Seems the logical solution. But with a demoralizing two hour wait and the snow still falling, we decided to hop on 95 for a couple of exits and give Chips a try. It seemed very... More

Honestly, I don't know of anywhere that has better pancakes. I've never even heard anyone suggest there were. Also, the other food is great too. Excellent sweet potato fries, surprisingly.
