We love Liv's Oyster Bar for years now, and come on a regular basis. The menu changes, which is good, but the atmosphere is always nice, the staff friendly, and there is no rush to get you out because new people are waiting. The food: very good, especially the seasonal variations of salmon, but we also love their other seafood,... More

Great selection of local seafood. I don't care for oysters but they had many other offerings. The salad was delcious as were the sea scallops. We were seated right next to the oyster bar and they appeared to have a wide selection to choose from.

My wife and I ate here on a Saturday evening in early October. You can sit outside, but it was beginning to get cold, so we decided to dine in. we each had a BLT Salad to start that was very crispy and fresh. The Ranch dressing tasted freshly made and delicious. The Truffle fries are the best we have... More

We visited Liv's with the in-laws. While they truly enjoyed their own meals, we were disappointed with the service. Two other members of our party had ordered vegetarian options that the waiter had suggested, however he brought the non-vegetarian option. Thus we had to send them back and wait for the right meals. Another member of our party ordered a... More

My wife and I had the opportunity to enjoy another "date night" this past Saturday. We decided to try Liv"s Oyster Bar in Old Saybrook, Ct. The reviews seem to indicate this restaurant had an excellent chef and the food was outstanding. The restaurant is on Main Street, nestled between many boutique stores and other restaurants. The entrance was impressive,... More

Great restaurant. Excellent, knowledgeable and attentive service. Fresh and delicious healthy local seafood options. The calamari is delicious - lighlty battered with a bit of spice. Creative martini and cocktail list, as well as many wine options to choose from. Wish it was located somewhere with a scenic view - although they do have a patio for outdoor dining.

First, let's start with the service -- it was surprisingly good (I should say excellent). It was clear that there was summer help involved but they were well trained and the primary waiter was very experienced (I observed this for all the tables) and delivered a high quality level of service without it ever feeling intrusive. The dishes were inventive... More

There are lots of restaurants on the shoreline from New Haven to the Connecticut River, but none seem to have as consistently good food at Liv's. While the restaurant has a limited menu, I've found the selections both interesting and sufficiently varied. He has what restaurant fans describe as "tastebuds" and he understand ingredients, how they merge, and preparation. The... More
