Best Seafood in Old Saybrook

Hands down the best seafood in Old Saybrook! Great raw bar. The warm octopus salad cannot be missed. The truffle fries are always a huge hit (especially with my boys!). Tuna tartare, bucatini seafood pasta, fish tacos, seared tuna, even the fish and chips will leave you wanting more!

This is a nice restaurant but has pluses and minuses. The wait staff is friendly and responsive. Their helpers, not so much (so getting bread for the table is a challenge) Chowder and Flat Bread are two great appetizers. Fried oysters, are and extremely small portion for $16. Salmon, Lobster roll, and cavatelli with clams and sausage are great dinners.... More

Fantastic meals everytime we go!! Service is great and attentive and the oysters are tasty and expertly shucked. Usually a good variety as well from the in season spots! Try the scallops - while the preparation varies as the menu changes often - they are my favorite. Great place on the shoreline and a favorite of mine and my wife... More

Went this past week with my wife. Place was busy for mid week, now I know why. Everything was great. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgable about the different oysters and dishes. Started with a ale toon of oysters and warm octopus salad. Very good choices. For entrees I had the scallops and my wife had bucatini pasta and seafood.... More

A seafood restaurant on the shore should have excellent seafood. Liv's didn't. The scallops were well prepared , but almost tasteless, lacking the sweet and distinct flavor of fresh sea scallops. The lobster roll had little lobster taste, and literally was not much better than one from McDonald's. Maybe I'm spoiled by Maine seafood, but I thought this a sad... More

A tiny place hidden in downtown Old Saybrook. Excellent service -- menu is great if you like oysters. Most of us got the scallops which were phenomenal. This chef knows how to do things right. We shared several varieties of appetizers from tempura squash blossoms (my favorite) to calamari an shrimp cocktail. A new find for me -- I'll be... More

We frequently bring out of town guests here IF they love seafood. The fish or shellfish is always fresh and delightfully presented. The service staff is very competent as well. They sometimes are overbooked and a bit hectic and once we were seated in a twofer in the hall way although we had reservations for a few days. A large... More

We were very excited to try Liv's for our friends surprise birthday. We were greeted very kindly by the hostess and were sat in one of the booths to the right in the restaurant. Our waitress quickly took our drink orders and our appetizers with a smile and glee. My guy friends ordered an abundance of seafood for appetizers while... More

The raw bar is fantastic and the oysters delicious. We ordered a small clam chowder and calamari for an appetizer. The clam chowder was very good in my opinion, although a little to spicy for my wife. The calamari was among the best. For entress, we went with the tuna and halibut and it was excellent. The presentation was also... More

This is our favorite restaurant. It is our date night place; John and his staff never disappoint us. The faroe island salmon they have on the menu right now is the best I have ever had. Cooked to a perfect medium rare - if I could eat it every night I would. Truffle fries are out of this world and... More
