oysters are great and the new small plates are exceptional.

Great food and service. Will be back for more, especially for the small plates and the appetizers. Also try the beefeater dry martini!

Excellent food, excellent service. Went on a Monday night with my husband (used a Groupon our daughter gave us); he got the fish & chips, I got the chicken (I don't like seafood). We ordered truffle fries for an appetizer - AMAZING! Our server was attentive without hovering. Nice decor, distinctive exterior (former movie theatre). Wear a collared shirt -... More

I had the chicken with rabe and roasted potatoes, and everything was excellent. The chicken was so tender a knife wasn't needed. The service was very good, competent but never intrusive, and the entire experience very enjoyable. It was fairly noisy, but I was too busy eating to let it bother me. By the way, my partner had the tuna... More

We were visiting Old Saybrook/Essex/Chester area and decided to try this restaurant. We were surprised by the tasteful decor and surroundings. We were so pleased to see the raw bar as we were led to our table. From the delicious bread to the outstanding desserts of pumpkin crime brûlée and apple bread pudding, our meal was outstanding. We enjoyed raw... More

We were able to score a last minute reservation, and were seated near the door- but, it wasn't a bad spot and the service was great. April, our server, was able to make some great recommendations in addition to being a very attentive server. We started with the boneless spare rib sliders and the fried oysters. The spare ribs literally... More

When renting a house for a couple of months to see if we like the area, we wanted to check out Liv's with a couple of visiting friends. We really liked our entrees as well as the oyster appetizers that our server, April, was so helpful in helping us select. The atmosphere was wonderful, although when walking in it seemed... More

We joined two friends for a midweek dinner. The special prices for oysters served as a great appetizer. They were plump, fresh and delicious. We all had different entree's to experience as much as possible. Common things such as Fish and Chips, Fish Tacos and Skewered Shrimp presented in an elegant fashion made them stand apart from those served in... More

Good seafood, and appetizers. Had two servings of oysters as they were terrific. Service was just adequate. When they realized we were just having drinks and appetizers it became noticeably slower. Would still go back as there dinners we've had before were very good.

My husband and I visited Livs on a snowy Valentine's Day- and it was a meal to remember. Excellent service, one of the best meals I have had i a long time- and they presented all ladies with a fresh flower at the end of the meal.

Joined another couple at Liv's for a long overdue reunion. We chose Liv's as it was the 1/2 way point for each. We were not disappointed! No parking could be found on Main St., but ample parking was a short, brisk walk from the rear lot. I enjoyed a great martini w/ extra olives- shrimp cocktail and fried calamari were... More
