This has been our favorite family restaurant for the past ten years or so, but we have been disappointed in the last several years. The portions have become noticeably much smaller and the prices have gone up. For example, we always enjoyed a basket of onion rings before dinner for four of us, but now your served a "cone" of... We stop at Penny Lane Pub for supper after the Essex Christmas Train. I ordered the County Cork Fried Calamari for the Table. There was a strand of hair in the calameri which I found after the strand was caught on a tooth. I pull the strand out and my daughter expression was priceless. We call the waitress and gave... Four Aleuts and two children on a Sunday evening walked right in. Seated immediately. All dinners were prepared in a wonderful fashion. Great chili and the fried scrod fish was delicious Will go back

Penny Lane has truly delicious food. I especially love their prime rib (not available on Sundays). All the dishes are very tasty and the service is great.

My wife and I have been here several times, as we are looking for a home in Old Saybrook. We stumbled on it by accident and have loved it. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Our bartender, Torey, has been "first class" each time we have visited. The cocktails and selection of... More

I've been here a couple of times and always left disappointed. Over priced and tasteless. Definitely do not order the... Mussels- mussels cooked in flavorless garlic water. Fish & chips- you call yourself a pub but you can't get fish and chips right? Come on...fish taste like it had been frozen and even the fries sucked. I like how it... More

We can always count on a good/excellent meal at PLP, whether it's lunch or dinner. On this Saturday afternoon, we were both craving liver, onions & bacon and no one prepares them like PLP! After a glass of house Pino Gri and a martini for my hubby, dinner came and it was delicious. Our server has been with PLP since... More

It's a pub. A fun one at that. We've eaten here numerous times. Large cocktails, great burgers. We've veered off the burgers a few times and have not really enjoyed our meals. Staff is outgoing, fun and competent.

Stopped for lunch on Tuesday 10/28 on a beautiful fall afternoon. We had our lunch on the outside patio. We had dined here several times in the past. The food and service is always top notch. My wife had the special Frittata, with peppers cheese tomatoes, etc...I had the Portabella Mushroom wrap....Stop by, you will not be dissapointed... .
