Good Breakfast

My husband and I stopped here on a Sunday morning, as it was about halfway to our day trip destination. He enjoyed (and completely finished), the Big Breakfast, eggs cooked to order, bacon, toast, shredded potatoes (hash browns). I had a cheese omelette, hash browns and toast. Paperback cafe has a great menu...just right before or after performances @ the Kate. Staff friendly and attentive. Outdoor dining fun in the AM as right on Main St...watch the world go by.

Great for Breakfast and a good coffee. Sundays they often have a trio of entertainment. A grilled morning glory muffin, some scrambled eggs and a fab. coffee. Set for the day!

My husband and I started our day at the Paperback Cafe on a recent visit to Old Saybrook. We had a really nice, laid back breakfast. The restaurant itself is a little small, but the food and service were very good. I enjoyed my oatmeal, bacon and fruit, and my husband really liked his (huge) omelet & chocolate cherry coffee.... We have eaten here a few times and have always enjoyed it. The sandwiches are so fresh and service is attentive and quick. The turkey club is enormous but the grilled chicken is done to perfection. Prices are reasonable and wait for a table is never long despite the fact that it is usually very busy at lunchtime.

Great food, friendly staff, and even books to trade! Enjoyed a Special Grilled Cheese Sandwich! Didn't have room for dessert but they looked delicious!

This was my first visit, although I've walked past it for years. I don't know why I never stopped in - went walking at the wrong time, I suppose. I came with friends and we all had a good experience. Two of us had BLTs and two had veggie wraps. Everyone voted thumbs up, except it was kind of sad... More

The gluten-free pancakes were delicious! We dined for brunch on a Sunday and were quite pleased with the food, as well as the atmosphere. They had a small, live jazz band playing while we ate. The restaurant is on the small side, but comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the kitchen is accommodating. There is a variety of... More

Met 5 other friends here for late breakfast/ early lunch around 11 am on a Saturday. Staff was very accommodating to our group. I tend to eat vegan as well as one other friend. would have enjoyed more vegan options on the menu. My veggie pita sandwich was delicious and served with healthy cut carrot sticks on the side. My... Both standard breakfast and lunch fare as well as some of their own personal creations if you're feeling out-of-the-box. You won't be disappointed in the chicken salad. And the omelettes are very very good. They have a Paleo menu as well, some of them are their own creations. Lots of coffee options, like lattes, cappuccinos, and the like. No alcohol.... More
