Fresh Salt is located in the Saybrook Point Inn. Our tables overlook the waters of the Connecticut River where the fresh river meets the salt of the sound. It's a treasured and historic spot. In nature the most vibrant life happens where systems meet. These places are rich in life, and our restaurant reflects that lively diversity. We have a raw bar, a seasonally varied menu, and offer as much as we can from the farms, brewers, cheese makes and other food enterprises that are springing up around our region. Fresh Salt delivers a dining experience that's comfortable and relaxed. Our staff is here to be of service to you, our kitchen stands ready with fresh ingredients, a deep wine cellar and carefully crafted fusions of foods and beverages that bring tastes together in delicious and new ways. We have tables by the fire, at the bar, and in season offer seating outdoors on the Fresh Salt Terrace.

Attentive service, good options for dinner and breakfast

I arrived around 9 pm and wanted a light dinner, and found a delicious salad on the menu and homemade vinegar chips (YUMMY). Server was attentive but not overbearing. For breakfast we had eggs benedict (excellent) and French toast that was dry. The waiter was very pleasant and returned the... read more

Fresh Salt never disappoints. The fish is fresh and creatively prepared, the pasta is superb, and the desserts are excellent. There is a good wine list, they make wonderful cocktails, and the service is terrific. And all of this is done overlooking a beautiful harbor at the mouth of the Connecticut River. Fresh Salt is superb.

We showed up for a Saturday lunch without reservation, and was welcomed and given a seaside table. A very nice dining area and a classic bar. The wine list was extensive and the waitress very friendly (had a fruit punch made to our daughter even though it wasn't officially on the menu). I tried the sesame seared tuna, at it... More

Every time we eat at Fresh Salt we Allways go way happy. The views from most seats are sumptuous as is the food . The chef changes the menu seasonally so you never get tired of the same. ( I do wish they would bring back the Suchi Triangles) my personal favorite in the appetizer section. The chowder is one... More

We're glad to hear you enjoy the seasonality of our menus at Fresh Salt. The "Saybrook Point" chowder came about for the same reasons you mentioned; it is a good cross between the traditionally rich New England, and the broth-style Rhode Island. Peter, our chief mixologist spends a lot of time concocting special cocktails and I'll pass your comments on... More

This used to be our favorite spot. After last night my boyfriend and I won't be returning until management of the restaurant gets their stuff together. First off, it was a Sunday night, normally it's pretty busy in there. When we first arrived we noticed that the staff was setting up for a party in the banquet room. Later realizing... More

We visited during the blizzard and enjoyed lunch, dinner and breakfast here. Each time service, food and views were great.

Terrific restaurant where the Connecticut River meets Long Island Sound. Wonderful ambiance, even in the dead of winter, for an anniversary dinner. The food was absolutely delicious from the Rhode Island Chowder and Roasted Butternut Squash Bisque to the swordfish (amazing!) and Cioppino (also amazing!). They have a very nice wine list, including wines by the glass. And the service... More

We got to the restaurant 30 mins early but the waitstaff found space for us to sit and order our drinks while we waited. Once at the table, the good service continued throughout and the food was delicious. Being on the shore we opted for the seafood options and all dishes from the mussels to the cod and the scallops... We traveled from Long Island and stayed over night for a wine pairing where the food and wine combination's couldn't have been better. Stags Leap wines, coupled with potato encrusted scallops, venison, filet mignon and a host of flavors and textures were incredible. Service, decor, and quality were impeccable. When you add in the beauty of the setting and the quality of... More

The Sunday brunch is worth any ride to Old Saybrook. It has many offerings and each is presented beautifully. The staff is friendly and setting lovely. One of the finest brunches I have attended. Their regular breakfast menu is also terrific and food for room service in the Inn is delicious too.
