It was Monday, and many Old Saybrook restaurants were closed (or weren't open for lunch). So we ended up here, our sixth stop! What attracted us was the sign that crowed about "best tacos, 2014" (or was it nachos?) but it didn't say by whose judgment, and I took great note of that omission. I chose the "Connecticut nachos" (or... More

We earned the award of Best Nachos and Best Mexican from the Shoreline Times Reader's Poll. It does say this on our posted sign. More

I have to be honest, I have eaten at the Cuckoos Nest several times, but have only had the Fajitas - but each time the food is great. The atmosphere is half of the charm here and the bartenders clearly enjoy their jobs as I've never had a bad experience here. The margaritas are good and its a quiet place... More

The service was very slow we had to wait about 1 hour for our food to arrive, but it came out fresh and warm. A bit on the expensive side but had a variety of foods to choose from.

I apologize for you having to wait so long for your food. I can assure that this will not happen on your next visit. If it does, please bring it to the attention of the manager immediately. More

My family and I dined at the cuckoos nest on a very busy Saturday, there was a short wait but we were seated and promptly greeted! We ordered the CT nachos and they were delicious… Every chip was filled with toppings warm and crisp! I had the fajitas and unlike other places I've been to the had a great variety... More

All you can eat buffet was amazing! We drove in early morning on Sunday not realizing there was an early bird special. They have traditional breakfast food as well as some Mexican. Nice, friendly waitress. Our new Sunday breakfast spot!

We used to frequent this restaurant weekly however the past few visits have been sub-par. When I arrive at a restaurant early and when they are empty, I don't expect to get escorted to the worst seating available. (the back porch corner). We were in and out before there were a dozen table full so we weren't interferring with any... More

I apologize for your unpleasant experience! We have 6 different dining areas which, when guests arrive, we rotate through when seating. Each section appeals to some and not so much to others. We will gladly find you a table that appeals to your individual preferences. There is no reason why you should have had to wait, and for that again... More

I recalled seeing great reviews for this place in a shoreline publication. Wish I had checked recent reviews, or we never would have gone today for lunch. The recently wiped table was sticky. No water was offered - it needed to be requested. The margaritas were just OK. The tortilla chips were cold, had no salt, and tasted stale. My... More

I have been to Cuckoo's Nest often and haven't been impressed, but its been a decent place to stop for a margarita and taco.......until today. I went into the bar and sat at a table.....and waited, and waited, and waited. The bartender was engrossed in talking to the 3 customers about his personal life, construction job, and his previous night... More

I eat here often with my family. The staff are nice and easy to deal with. The kids love this place. They used to only get chicken fingers but now they get beef tacos, and love the chips and salsa. The new menu items are real good. The specials are great mexican inspired dishes. My favorite is the mexican menu,... More

The Sunday buffet brunch at the Cuckoo's Nest is priced at $14.95 which, in the Old Saybrook area, is a bargain. In addition to the standard breakfast fare of eggs, sausage, bacon, omelets, etc. there is a selection of Mexican items. Various desserts are also offered. Everything that my wife and I had was tasty, as well as, our bloody... More
