I enjoyed the Cuckoo's Nest in past visits but it's been several years since I've been there. As I was in the area with my daughter, I thought it would be a good chance to go there again as she loves Mexican food. Sat outside, which was nice except for all of the flies that were hovering around trying to... More

Wanting to have a Mexican meal, one of our group of 4 decided we would eat at the Cuckoo's Nest. The 4th person was to meet us at the restaurant at 6PM on June 21st, but got delayed and eventaully failed to turn up due to an illness. We assumed she had booked a table for 4, so when we... More

I'll begin by stating this restaurant opened in 1972, and I have been eating here on a semi regular basis since it opened. So I may have a bit of insight. First off the bad reviews you read are correct, and the good reviews are correct. This restaurant means something different to everyone who lives here. When I think back... More

I have been coming here for years. They are under relatively new management and the quality of the food and drinks has greatly improved from years past. I had excellent house margaritas. We also had catfish fingers to start with and they were excellent. For dinner I had chicken fajitas and my husband had steak fajitas- both very good- lots... More

Have driven by here many times and never thought of stopping in. Not crowded on Saturday night and was seated immediately. Melissa was our server and was very attentive and helpful. My Jamaican Jerk Chicken was great and my wife's steak strips were very good, although very heavy on the garlic. Ordered a pitcher of house margueritas and was surprised... More

After hearing folks repeatedly recommend Cuckoo's Nest, my family and I were truly disappointed on our initial visit. The food was simply bland and tasteless. Definitely not what a Mexican restaurant should be. Thinking it was just a "bad night", I decided to give it another try with a friend. We had both read it was "under new management", so... More

It's definitely not authentic Mexican cuisine, but we love this place for a good margarita, tamales, and fajitas, and come here a lot. The chips and salsa can't be beat, and its just a fun, casual spot to be. I'd choose this over a chain Mexican joint any day :)

I've reviewed Cuckoo's nest before, this is just a quick shout out to hostess Brenda and waitress Belinda. We eat here fairly regularly and have always enjoyed prompt, courteous, pleasant service. This time, however, we sat at our table for 20 minutes without having a drink order taken. We were walking out and told our story to Brenda, who was... More

Since moving to the shoreline, I have heard many people recommend Cuckoo's Nest. On a recent Saturday night, my son and I made the trip. I was extremely disappointed. The food was so bland. The nachos were plain burger with dare I say American cheese on top? My son's enchilla was just as bland. The spanish rice and lemonade however... More

Has been awhile since I've been to the Cuckoo's Nest because each prior visit was lackluster. Decided to give it another try since the restaurant advertises a new owner; OK someone who has been at the Cuckoo's Nest for years but nonetheless thought there might be some changes. Obviously not. Food still is unimpressive, bland and certainly not attractively plated.... More
