Description: Nestled in the heart of the historic district of South Norwalk, Connecticut, Bacchus, named for the mythological Roman God of wine, is a self-styled Italian restaurant with an Innovative twist. Our mission is to honor the traditions of the Italian kitchen by bringing back the classic bases of Italian cooking while adding a touch of new world flavors. Bacchus offers a unique approach to wine selection and consumption. The wine list was created to "take the anxiety out of choosing" a bottle. We offer an outstanding selection of wines by the glass, the wine list is presented by price point and the wines in each section are meant to offer the best value and taste in their respective categories. Bacchus wines range from $30 to $75 selections, with a reserve list with only a few wines exceeding $100. Our wine selections include domestic wines as well as Italian, French, Spanish, Chilean and Argentinean.

Consistently great food, fantastic and thoughtful service, interesting (in a good way) wine list. and cozy but sophisticated atmosphere. This is one of my favorite spots in Norwalk and a real standout in Connecticut.

My boyfriend and I visited on a Friday night around 8 PM. The restaurant was very crowded, but I was immediately greeted by a very nice man (host? owner?), and taken immediately to a table to wait for my boyfriend to park the car. Our waitress came over & took our drink order promptly and brought our bottle of wine... More

This restaurant is very nicely located on the SoNo strip and has outside seating. The food is ok and the service is not bad.

We had an excellent experience at Bacchus. The restaurant has a great, intimate feeling. With dark wooden beam entrance, dark wood floors and exposed brick walls. The also have a great wine selection. If you go there make sure you get "Arnie's meatballs", you won't believe how good meatballs can taste! Also, there are many seasonal items on the menu... More

We chose Bacchus because it was geographically midway between two couples meeting for dinner but the four of us were blown away by the restaurant! We are all sophisticated diners and were impressed with every item we ordered. The caponata placed on the table was delicious (we asked for and received seconds) and that set the stage for a wonderful... More

First, get by the parking .... Washington St has many options: street, lot, meters. Now, this is a very comfortable establishment. The interior decor is finished, posh but easy. You don't think your sitting in an old bar ! Give your coat up or put over your chair .... By the way .... all the tables are on one side,... More

My husband, friends and I come to Bacchus several times a month. The food is always fantastic and John, the sommelier, is great. He always has just the right wine for our meal. The staff is friendly and informed. David, the bartender, always has a smile and serves a mean martini. We find no reason to go anywhere else when... More
