Located between New Canaan and Norwalk, I was immediately delighted by the prompt service. My friends and I continued to enjoy a rare, leisurely lunch. We devoured the complimentary fresh bread and olive oil, and stayed for 2-hours drinking cocktails, wine and devouring, delicious Mediterranean dishes. I was so hungry I opted for the homemade gnocchi with a shiitake mushrooms... More

After a long day of Christmas Shopping wanted a small cozy place to have a nice meal and drink. Greeted by a very pleasant hostess - nice table by window- servers were very attentive. To start - cheese platter - very nice, cauliflower roasted with garlic - excellent as well as Brussel sprouts again excellent. Two of us had sea... More

My wife and I have been to Basso many times over the past few years. The food is consistently good and we consider the value very good. Recently, they have been able to acquire a liquor license so we will see how that adds to their popularity.

While the last reviewer from Vermont below is evidently trying to impress somebody by talking gibberish, let's try and keep it real for potential diners. The owner is very passionate about his product. The dishes are unique and the specials quite good. Yes, the regular menu needs to change on occasion though. BYOB has been removed as he has opened... Arrive at Basso early for apps and chat over a martini, because it's impossible to converse later when the place is packed and the human noise rises to a low roar. Why talk when the eating is sublime? Perfectly prepared plates truly indulge all sense perceptions while considerably lightening the wallet. An indulgence, certainly. Fresh grilled sardines, roasted asparagus to... More

We enjoyed a delightful meal at this delightfully cozy restaurant with friends. The restaurant itself is small and but the atmosphere is very warm and welcoming, Be forewarned, however--the tables are set very close together to there's not a lot of elbow room. Several times, you may find yourself in closer quarters than you might expect with the people at... More

If we had to buy wine at this restaurant we would never go back or recommend it. Best part of the restaurant is BYOB. Food is just average, service is not that great. I had the grouper special and it was dry, another guest had the eggplant parmigiana and it was very toasted on the top, another guest had the... More

This was our second visit to this restaurant and it did not disappoint. The service is excellent, as is the food. It is BYOB which is nice for bringing your favorite wine. The appetizers were all very good, and several very creative. we all liked our mains, and the portion size was very good for the price. I think this... More

We had an outstanding dinner here the other night. The setting was relaxing, lighting very soft. The food compares to the best places in New York. We ordered a few tapa's to start and they were all amazing. I recommend the Grilled Calamari and the Brie Cheese Croquettes! For entree I had the delicious Seafood Linguini, save your bread to...
