I love that I live so close to a place with such amazing food. At first I thought it was a bit pricey for portion size, but the taste really delivers. Being such a lover of scallops, I'm so happy to have a place that most usually has something scallop-y on their menu(which is ever changing). They offer live Jazz... More

My husband and I adore this small, cozy, wonderful restaurant which has amazing food and such a warm and inviting decor! We have eaten there many, many times and have brought friends there as well. Reviews were always the same... Great food, great service, great ambiance but they charge you $10 to open a bottle of wine you brought with... More

A real gem in Norwalk - good vibes, food, service. BYOB is a huge plus. Steak was poor quality meat. Calamari - wonderful. Solid beet salad. Stuffed pork chop - very good. Sat on the patio and uncorked while waiting for our table to clear and watched the world go by. We'll be back soon.

Outstanding dining experience. Food was fabulous and the service was top notch. The 3 course special was a very good deal also. I will come back for sure!

I have been a faithful weekly visitor to this awesome place since I stumbled upon it about a year ago. I just read a review about inconsistency. Are you sure you have the right place? In all the times I have been there, I have never noticed any lamb chops on the menu. Also, I might be mistaken, but I... More

I've been to Basso about 3 times and received inconsistent service and quality of food. I received a coffee cup, which still had someone else's lipstick on it. utterly grossed out! When I mentioned it to the waitress, she gave us an attitude. There have been times when the food is delicious, especially their dulce de leche cake. Then again,... More

We enjoyed our first (and perhaps, last) dinner at the (byo) Basso Cafe in a converted house/store on a busy suburban street in untrendy Norwalk CT. Noticeably good food (lamb two ways, and sea scallops one way) was proficiently served inside the small, dark, and crowded space within a whirlwind of head-rocking noise. The hearing-impaired owner must not notice or... More

Went to Basso after hearing many good things about it. They were correct. Our usual go to place for BYOB is Nicholas Robert but Basso is going to be right up there from now on. The difference is corkage is minimal ($10 at basso $5 at NR). I had the lamb two ways and it was superb. My husband ordered... More

B,Y.O.B. The menu has enough choices for everyone. The Lamb 2 Ways was excellent and Sea Scallops were also a winner. The staff was very attentive, but not over pushy. A tad cramped and crowded on a Saturday night. Be prepared to make friends with your neighbors. Reservations needed on weekends for sure.

Our go to place for a great meal. The restaurant interior has been changes slightly in the last few months but still remains simple & nice but not fancy by any means. Food is the most innovative & prepared in all of Connecticut. A rich blending of Italian and South American cultures in the husband & wife owner makes for... More
