A visit to CT isn't complete until I've had lobster at Abbott's Lobster in the Rough. This place may be a little hard to find, but it's well worth the trip. The lobsters are very fresh and steamed to perfection. Love to sit outside and watch the boats go by in the harbor. Very informal, good food at decent prices.

Fantastic seafood and views. Loved the lobster, steamers and clams. We were there for a wedding reception and the service was excellent.

This place is right on the water with a marina and channel directly in front of you when you eat. So, the ambience is the location, certainly not the picnic ground you are actually within. Abbott's serves tons of lobster, literally, and it is fresh and delicious. Their lobster bisque is rich and tasty. The hot lobster rolls are darn... More

The view is wonderful, however, the food is average at best. The mussels were dry and several were not open. The lobster roll was OK, nothing to write home about, accompanied by warm coleslaw and greasy potato chips. The overall experience is fun though eating on the deck, watching the boats go by, but need to find another place that... More

We ate at the take out bar just beyond the restaurant. The steamed clams were some of the best I've had. They were sweet and hot, the fried clams were good, bit I have had better. They were very nicely prepared, but not as sweet as the steamers. It was a great place to view the harbor and enjoy the... More

We frequent Abbotts throughout the summer. For us, it's a destination, rather than just dining out. We make several hours of our visit with a packed cooler (byob) and the most beautiful views. The food is phenomenal. All steamed items such as lobster, mussels, steamers, etc. (Fried seafood lovers can go down the road to the "brother" restaurant, Costellos). Items... More

We took a group of almost 100 people to Abbott's 7/16/14. They had the outdoor area reserved for us, but others also joined us. We all had our food in a short time. Most of us either had the hot lobster rolls or just the lobster. The food was delicious. The cole slaw had a great slightly tangy flavor. We... More

A rainy day traveling up to Providence left us craving fresh seafood. We picked this as it was easy to get to and on the coast. It was a great choice!! We ordered the hot lobster roll and the lobster salad roll. Both were fabulous! Watching our neighbors made me wish I had just gone for the full oyster though... More

This is a "must" stop whenever we have out-of-town guests. It never disappoints. Lobster dinners or rolls. A picnic table right at the mouth of the Mystic River. BYO wine. It's pricier than a lobster shack, but well worth it.
