Variety of beer -- quality of food depends on chef in kitchen

Atmosphere is casual, usually with a few flies around all summer long INSIDE. Waiters sometimes get you drinks and water and sometimes even bread but sometimes not. (ps. bread has never been hot or even warn in ten years). Food is bland, you need to order carefully and then hope that the right... read more

Didn't expect this high quality restaurant to be nestled down in Niantic! Really enjoyed the hospitality afforded by the Black Sheep's knowledgeable staff. The live music was also a great treat after dinner, and we stuck around till closing time!! Great food, excellent staff and a rockin' good time.

Good for a beer or two but not food. Average, bland and boring at best. Menu brings yawns and visions of tasteless food. Had seafood and it was right out the freezer.

I have visited the Black Sheep many times, and have never had a bad meal. This time, I had the nightly special - cream cheese stuffed flounder with lime cream sauce. Very nice. My friend got the whiskey burger, and enjoyed every bite. The fries were to die for - steak fries with a crispy coating. Nice location on Main... More

We visited there to get a couple of salads to go, to take to Harkness State Park for a little picnic. Very disappointing. $19. for a salad with maybe a teaspoon, at most, of stilton cheese, (which was one of the main reasons I ordered this particular salad) very little dressing and only 4 shrimp (at $9. extra for the... Nice decor, a decent draft beer selection and very good sandwiches. Service was fast and efficient but we were not rushed. There is a small courtyard area with tables and chairs on Main Street which is nice.

Went for drinks and apps. Staff was very friendly and atmosphere was pub style. Great selection for non meat eaters. Tried the Poutine as I had this dish in Canada. Did think it was weird that an Irish Pub had a french dish, but tried it any way. It's served with swiss instead of cheese curds.Veggie dumplings were very tasty... More

Stopped in for lunch Sunday after the 4th before going home. Sat at the bar. Started off with a beer and wine. I had a Spinach salad with a creamy garlic dressing. Pretty good. And the Arancini. Also good. Hubby had a cup of clam chowder and a turkey sandwich with fries. Such a hearty sandwich he couldn't eat fries... More

This place has a nice decor, plenty of parking, and pretty good food. However the food is pretty pricey. Add in to that the slowness of the service and it makes a somewhat underwhelming bar experience.

Service is slow and servers not very happy to get things (like ketchup or extra gravy) when asked. The food is overpriced for what it is, and isn't very good to begin with. Menu has some good options (poutine, bangers, etc.), so it seems like there's potential, but this is the 4th time I've come and been disappointed. Dishes aren't... More
