Very good diner

Blue colony is a classic diner just off highway I-84 in Newtown. It has a variety of items on the menu as diners do. The food is always good and the last visit was not exception.

We stopped here on our way home from VA and found the menu had lots of choices. Our waitress was not too familiar with the ingredients in many of the selections, so we took a chance but all food was good. We found the prices a bit steep for a diner, but the portions were large so I guess it... More

Consistently good food and lots of choices. Can be busy during mealtimes (which is always a good sign) but I've never had to wait for a seat. Service can be variable when they are busy but food has been consistent and good. I think portions are generous and prices are fair. It's a diner, so ambience is what it is,... More

We had the pleasure to stop in on the way to and from VA, Both times we had to buy the cannoli's for the ride home. For breakfast we had Anita. Great lady. For lunch I had the special spaghetti, sausage and peppers. With a salad und bottom less ice tea. My girl had the spinach pie which she took... More

I have been to this place many times. It reminds you of an old 50s diner -shiny exterior and cheap interior. They have a huge selection - the menu is in a very very small font and probably has over 400 entrees you can get (steak, roast beef, meatloaf, chicken or any breakfast item you want as well as burgers,... We were two cars with 6 people on our second day of driving from North Carolina. I saw this billboard about 20 miles before and decided it would be a good place for lunch. If you go there bring your appetite, the food is great and there is plenty of it. My daughter whom would live on salad (no she's... More

We discovered the large road sign for the Blue Colony Diner located off Exit #10 on route # 84 in Newtown, Connecticut back in 2013 while travelling from N.S. Canada to South Carolina. It works out to be at the right time of day for both directions of travel. Easy and direct on/off exits close to Route # 84. You... More

...because the portions are Flintstone enormous. With a menu as big as phone book (they have everything) and piles of food to match, the Blue Colony is a classic diner. Meals come with soup, salad, diner-baked challah, coffee, drinks and two sides. The gut-busting plates are plenty to share and the food is solid if diner-fare is what you're looking... More

Fast service, extensive menu, good food, very reasonable prices. Many celebrities have eaten in this restaurant (check the posting on the wall near the restrooms - even John Lennon ate there). Travelers along I-84 all know of the Blue Colony Diner and make it a planned stopping point on their trips through New England. The Diner is open 24 hours... More

I am very picky when it comes to my food and service. These folks did not disappoint. They should franchise and put one near my house.
