outstanding little lunch place

went there last week for a casual lunch. recommended by someone who used to live in New London. Got the pot roast sandwich special with their great tomato soup. Perfect lunch on a cold day. Friendly service and cool atmosphere.

Love the atmosphere, the vintage Life magazines to puruse and the semi-interesting menu. Average coffee and pastry. Very popular with the locals, can get a little crowded at times. Altogether, a cute little joint. Service varies.

Well, one of the best sandwich places ever visited. The choices of bread, deli, toppings, etc. will always please everybody and anybody in your party. I hate the fact they close so early as this place could easily satisfy one's dinner hunger.

Great place to stop for coffee, breakfast or lunch. Lots of history surrounds you and the Susan & Barry make everyone feel right at home. If you're doing lunch, be sure to try the 'Love Salad'.

Very friendly staff, make this cafe a great choice. Not to mention the food, "homelike" atmosphere, prices and view of the river. No drama, just the place to relax with friends and enjoy a good meal with a view. Like sitting in your own living room, except you don't have to dust before they come over!

A warm November day was perfect for deck seating at the Muddy Waters Cafe recently. A friend and I were there because they advertised Hughies Love Salad, a salad we used to eat once a week at another New London restaurant some 40 years ago that was was reknowned for its original Love Salad. Although it was touted as the... More

A family owned café with a wonderful mix of comfortable seating arrangements. An outside deck allows for great viewing of boats, ferries and submarines in the Thames River. I ordered the Herb Roasted Chicken with red peppers and spinach with pesto on rye bread. Absolutely scrumptious and enough to share with another. $7.50 While a wonderful variety of coffees and... And, ooohhh, so much more. We visit Muddy Waters Cafe whenever we visit the area. And while we've eaten lunch there, which was also excellent; but, this visit was for breakfast...locks and bagels...coffee/tea...heaven. The staff is so friendly, the atmosphere is comfortable (with a view of the Thames River), the prices are reasonable. My husband likes capers on his. He... More

Our son, going to Ct College, brought my wife and I here for breakfast. Its a very busy place with lots of parents and students here. You stand in line to order then sit and they bring your order to you. The food was fresh, hot, and good. The atmosphere was lively and fun, pictures of the town in the... More

This place is the perfect way to start your day. Coffee is awesome and the food is really good. My only wish is that the place stayed open later than 2. It would be a great place to do some work in the late afternoon on weekends or in the evening during the week.
