I made my first trip to Mr. G's the year it opened and it remains a favorite 45 years later. Their gyro sandwich is as good as any in Greece. This is a place for comfort food, with a varied menu and a good bar, the prices are reasonable and they are open late.

Staying on campus at the USCG Academy for a week of training, and wanting to eat a meal off campus during a quick ninety minute dinner break, my options were limited. Mr. G's is certainly the closest option available, but also turned out to be delicious and affordable as well! Our group of five was in and out in just... More

We recently went there on a Sunday night, after a busy weekend. Waitstaff is excellent and attentive. The food is always consistent, and there are specials. You can get a light meal, pizza and grinders, or a dinner. The place is small and intimate, and we feel relaxed there.Good place to go. Frequented by the locals (there is also a... More

We were visiting the Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT and wanted a local place to grab a quick lunch. We stopped at Mr. G's, which was only a short drive from the academy. You can tell it is definitely a place the locals enjoy, which is always a good sign, and it definitely was in this case as... More

I had fond but very distant memories of Mr. G's from my college days. We were in the area recently and needed a quick meal, so we decided to try our old haunt. It was around 6:00 pm on a Friday night and the place was hopping. The hostess was very friendly, directed us to a table in the back... More

Family owned and run , the chef will try to fill most requests, looks a little plain but the staff is great its one of those places where "everybody knows your name".

This is the place to go if everyone wants something different, from Pizza and Grinders to full dinners--everything is awesome. They will accomodate any special request (I build my own grinder!) and the waitstaff is amazing. Try it, you'll like it!
