I see other people have called Mr. G's a dive bar with bad food but I have to disagree. I have never had a bad meal here. Granted I keep it simple, it's a pizza place so if you are looking for five star Michelin dining, you are not going to find it here. The pizza and grinders are both... More

I've been here a few times and the service is sub-par. I ordered relatively simple things and waited more than 45 minutes each time. The restaurant itself gives off a rather "dumpy" feeling in which you're better coming here for a drink late night. That said, the food saved it for me. In the future, I believe I will only... More

Total dive with a decent bar but the food is absolutely terrible. I'm still shocked that so many people I work with come here for lunch - I found the food I got to be inedible. Eeks - methinks not on the food. 2 star for the bar only. Very dark environment - perhaps they're trying to hide the quality... More

I made my first trip to Mr. G's the year it opened and it remains a favorite 45 years later. Their gyro sandwich is as good as any in Greece. This is a place for comfort food, with a varied menu and a good bar, the prices are reasonable and they are open late.

Staying on campus at the USCG Academy for a week of training, and wanting to eat a meal off campus during a quick ninety minute dinner break, my options were limited. Mr. G's is certainly the closest option available, but also turned out to be delicious and affordable as well! Our group of five was in and out in just... More

We recently went there on a Sunday night, after a busy weekend. Waitstaff is excellent and attentive. The food is always consistent, and there are specials. You can get a light meal, pizza and grinders, or a dinner. The place is small and intimate, and we feel relaxed there.Good place to go. Frequented by the locals (there is also a... More

We were visiting the Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT and wanted a local place to grab a quick lunch. We stopped at Mr. G's, which was only a short drive from the academy. You can tell it is definitely a place the locals enjoy, which is always a good sign, and it definitely was in this case as... More

I had fond but very distant memories of Mr. G's from my college days. We were in the area recently and needed a quick meal, so we decided to try our old haunt. It was around 6:00 pm on a Friday night and the place was hopping. The hostess was very friendly, directed us to a table in the back... More
