Growing up, Fred's was, and still is today the go to place for comfort food in New London. It is quick, relatively inexpensive, and tasty. I highly suggest their foot long chili cheese dog. The fried belly claims are also a staple. An added bonus about the place is its outdoor seating with marina views.

We found this place accidentally as we were just driving along the water! Great views.. We ordered ice cream and ate outside. I ordered a kids size twist soft serve and it was good for someone who doesn't want to over indulge. My husband ordered a raspberry flavor and it was sooo good! I would make the trip here again... Was determined to have an overdose of lobster while visiting the New London area and Fred's was highly recommended by my childhood friend who still lives in the area. Absolutely delicious hot lobster roll with an order of fried pickles on the side. Outside casual dining only (no restrooms) with an added bonus of a beautiful view of the water.... More

As others have written, this is a no frills places. You order at a window and wait for your number to be called. That being said, the food was great. My fish sandwich didn't have that "fake" fish taste to it at all. Instead it was perfectly cooked and just the right size. The fried dough was perfect. I haven't... More

"Serving the Shoreline Since 1972", their motto, tells you a lot. Our first time, but I suspect everyone else has been coming here for decades. It is a no nonsense homely kind of place that fits perfectly into its waterfront surrounding. Rustic picnic tables overlooking New London harbor, three window lines, two for ordering (food or ice cream) and the... More

This is just as the name describes - you go up to a window, order your food and then eat at picnic tables. Be aware there are no bathroom facilities at this location. The food was very good, large portions and reasonable prices. Nice to just sit back and relax by the water while eating some whole belly clams, clam... More

Had fried clams strips..they were good but were not served hot...they were cooked to order so I am not sure why they were not hot...you sit outside...pick up your order at the window...look out over the water....only thing I have ever eaten there...prices were reasonable compared to one other place we stopped at and decided not to stay to eat... LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place!! Whenever I'm in Connecticut, it's one of the first places I visit and can't get enough of their delicious clam strips, either solo or the clam strip dinner.

Cool atmosphere at Fred's. Found by accident but glad we stopped in for a quick lunch beside the water.

If you want fresh seafood, burgers or dogs. this the place. It has a great view of the Thames River looking toward Groton. And the people and service is the best. Seating is outdoors or take out. I have been coming here since I was little. And I will never stop.
