The quintessential clam shack. Gets incredibly busy in the summer, with speedy service. Great views and friendly local crowd. Deep fried classics.

I’ve been here before. This was my friend’s first visit. We stopped here in mid-afternoon of looking at New London Ledge Lighthouse and New London Harbor Lighthouse further south on Pequot Avenue. Luckily, parking wasn’t an issue. There are only about a dozen parking spaces in front of this popular walk-up fried food and ice cream stand. We both had... More

Excellent burgers and fries, only thing I ever had because they are so good! Juicy with all the trimmings, thin, tasty fries. Can't beat the view, Thames River, outdoor seating only. will close on Oct 12th for the season, pick a nice day to enjoy a very reasonable treat.Bet the seafood is as good! Next year will try it!

We found Fred's after leaving Mystic. We had the chowder, very rich & full of tender clams. We also shared the fried clam basket & an order of whole belly clams. We had more food than we could finish & everything was delicious. The folks working there were friendly & helpful.

My parents have been taking me to Fred's since I was a child. I love the foot long hot dogs and the full belly class and calm chowder are crowd pleasers. You know summer is close when they open. It's something r to look forward too during the long New England winters.

We ordered the fish sandwich which was very hot and fresh and tasty! The better was light and perfectly cooked. The fish was flaky and piping hot. Service was fast and friendly. Situated on the road next to the harbor, with outdoor seating. Very casual and fitting for a fresh fish meal. T-shirts are very cute as well!

Growing up, Fred's was, and still is today the go to place for comfort food in New London. It is quick, relatively inexpensive, and tasty. I highly suggest their foot long chili cheese dog. The fried belly claims are also a staple. An added bonus about the place is its outdoor seating with marina views.

We found this place accidentally as we were just driving along the water! Great views.. We ordered ice cream and ate outside. I ordered a kids size twist soft serve and it was good for someone who doesn't want to over indulge. My husband ordered a raspberry flavor and it was sooo good! I would make the trip here again... Was determined to have an overdose of lobster while visiting the New London area and Fred's was highly recommended by my childhood friend who still lives in the area. Absolutely delicious hot lobster roll with an order of fried pickles on the side. Outside casual dining only (no restrooms) with an added bonus of a beautiful view of the water.... More
