Great view of the city

Went here because their fixed menu for restaurant week offered enough choices that all the people with various limited diets in our party could find something to enjoy. And we did! The food was good, the service was excellent, and we enjoyed the view of New Haven.

Sitting on the 19th floor watching the Rangers with a 2-1 lead over TB in pursuit of the cup. Typing away on the laptop and see a dirty martini leave the bar- Michael the keep says- I'll make you one- best you'll ever have. He was right- this was a perfect Martini....though every time I start drinking these I start... More

The views over Yale and New Haven at the top of the Omni Hotel are breathtaking, the service is gracious, but the food left much to be desired. Also, there was a bit of dirt and grime on the floor near our table, including a piece of brie cheese on the carpet. The menu is pedestrian, and the food off... More

We had a commencement dinner for 10 for our son's graduation. Our food did not arrive for over an hour. It was partially cold, and orders were wrong. I informed the manager, and the took all the orders back to re-plate and replace. It came back 15 minutes later and some orders were still wrong, one missing altogether. Medium steaks... More

This place has so many physical gifts - great views of scenic downtown New Haven, nearby parking, central location- but the food is not one of them. It is a small, exceeding ly boring menu that could be from anywhere. Nothing ties it to the area food-wise (New Haven has a great foodie scene, in case you were not aware)... More

I loved dining at John Davenports! I really loved the decor and the beautiful view, but most of all our servers Adan and Chris were awesome! The overall service was great. I also really enjoyed the beverages.

This is the second year that my family celebrated a holiday dinner at John Davenport's at the Omni in New Haven, CT, on 25-Dec. We had seating starting at 5:00 PM and enjoyed dinner and conversation until 8:00 PM (there are 2 earlier seatings). The staff are true professionals. The food was excellent with choices from smoked fish, cold shellfish,... More

Four of us went to John Davenport's for dinner. Atmosphere is great. Try to sit next to the windows if possible. The wait staff was great and food was quite good. A friend got the halibut, it was amazing. I got the tenderloin which was the special..it was quite good as well. Our waiter, Thomas, was really good. Smart, knew... More
