Homerun!!

I have been told for years by my brother that New Haven style pizza is to die for. Lucky for me I was driving home from Boston to DC when I pursuaded my boyfriend to go a little out of the way so we could see what all the fuss is about. My brother recommended BAR so we stopped here.... read more

Went here on a little New Haven pizza tour with friends (also went to Pepe's) and was impressed by the pizza, definitely something a bit different from the style that Pepe's/Sallie's are known for. Was recommended by our friends, New Haven locals, to get the mashed potato pizza and we were impressed, it was something you don't normally see on... More

Stopped in again (every time I'm even close to New Haven!) and the pizza is still amazing. Also loved the microbrews (as usual). My only issue is that the cleanliness of the place seems to be fading. I literally wiped a brown layer of something (old beer?) off of the bar before I ate . . . not great. Also,... More

So I have a love/hate relationship with Bar. I love there white mashed potato pizza it's my favorite thing to order on the menu. However, the wait on the weekend is ridiculous. I recommend getting the pizza to go and enjoying it at home. If you are going to have beer at Bar just be prepared to stand to drink... More

We waited and waited and waited some more. The hostess kept saying 15 more minutes, but it was worth the wait. Great pizza and decent beer choice made the wait tolerable. I would recommend to just about anybody.

BAR and Modern Apizza have been my 2 favorite places for pizza in New Haven for more than a decade. And I say this having lived a few blocks away from Pepe's and Sally's. But I think they may have grown too big for their own good. Tonight I ordered 2 large pies and a large salad to bring home... More

Had a nice pint served by a very helpful and attractive bar lady. Cost was reasonable and place was very nice.

Great red sauce. Nice thin crust. Relatively fast service. Not enough salads on the menu. It's a bit loud for lunch, but it's that kind of place. Vegan options available too!

We got a couple of pizzas for a table of 7 guys. The pizzas showed up looking like window panes. But, a hunger person could eat a couple of square feet of this stuff. The bill was enormous. So, the value per person was pretty low. Decent scenery in the place and the craft beer was pretty good.
