Average sushi...Great pumpkin Miso soup

Came looking for Sashimi take out. Asked if we could order to go, they said yes . Menu was like a small book. After 15 minutes of looking , we decided on a few choices that were the most popular pieces {recomended} . Gotta tell you, wasn't impressed... The Miso soup was outstanding !

Miya's is a distinctly strange restaurant in the most wonderful way. The service is excellent and the food is exquisite. Plan to take your time and open your mind. The sushi here is made from all sorts of ingredients; fish being optional in many of them. Even the soup is different -- it's a pumpkin miso, not just a standard... More

We often eat Sushi but we experienced whole new flavors and combinations at Miya's. We got the 17 course dinner with 5 sake tastings. The dishes were bursting with a cacophony of flavors. Exotic, fresh, unusual. If you have an open mind, and love to try anything once, then this is the place to have your next Japanese meal. The... More

This is an unusual restaurant with truly unique offerings of food and drink. Care and pride are evident in the ingredients and service. We had dinner to celebrate Yale graduation and left it to the chef to pick the offerings. We were not disappointed - it was fantastic. Ingredients included locally foraged plants and seafood transported to another level, prepared... More

I don't like sushi that much but I loved this! Maybe the reason is the menu tells the story of all the food, source, environmental impact, benefits. There is also a LOT of non-sushi sushi, stuff that is presented like sushi but is actually not, or at least not anything the Japanese would recognize. Plenty to eat for those with... More

I am a Japanese and this is my second try at a sushi restaurant in New Haven. I think the restaurant is better described as serving American cuisine inspired by sushi. And, if so understood, the meal is fine.

A friend of ours visiting from NYC grabbed a few us on a Sunday afternoon and hauled us off to Miya's for sushi-a tall order as we are all vegetarians. We got lucky as it was New Haven's restaurant week, so there was a Prix Fixe vegetarian lunch menu meaning no thinking required, though one of our party ordered off... More

You've got to love restaurants that have been around long enough to have eras. I have loved all the era's at Miya's, but the current one is my favorite. The food is art and activism...and tasty...all at the same time, but that has been the case for awhile. The new thing at this fantastic restaurant is that the service and... More

I adore Japanese food, but when I became vegan, I assumed I'd be stuck forever with miso soup, seaweed salad, and the ubiquitous boring veggie roll that all sushi places have. Not so at Miya, where one wildly inventive vegan item after another showed up in front of me when I went there during restaurant week and accepted the prix... More

This place was a major disappointment. It was very much the vegan type crowd and very little raw fish to be seen. I went with a Japanese colleague and we soon both realized this was going to be a short visit. It was we had a couple of dishes, paid and left to go to an actual sushi place about... More
