Good food, nice variety

We stopped here for dinner on a Sunday. The place was almost empty. I'm glad we didn't turn around and leave. We had samosas, pappadums, garlic naan, saag paneer and the ever popular chicken tikka masala. If you're in New Haven and want to eat lunch for a good price and not sacrifice on taste or quantity, then Tandoor is the place for you. I am not an expert in Indian cuisine, but I like good food and the food at Tandoor is great. The best time to go is between 11am and 2pm, t's only... More

Whenever we go to Yale to visit my son, we will go to this restaurant. We tried the buffet lunch a few times. There are a few choices of meat, vegetables, rice, naan bread, sauces and dessert. Despite the limited choices, the food is very good. The lunch is only $10 + tax. I guess a lot of the students... More

I have been eating Indian food in NYC for over twenty five years. Tonight I stopped at Tandoor as I have passed it many times. I always order the same menu at a new Indian restaurant. Bottom line is the food and preparation was ok but with very little taste. The Nan bread I am sure was not made in... More

We go here about once a month for the all-you-can-eat lunch buffet. We get it to go and save it for dinner. The amount of food and quality of the food that you get for the price is incredible. Everything there is good from the samosas to the chicken tiki masala although our favorite is the chicken chili. Highly recommend... More

I've been visiting Tandoor for the past ten years or so. It's ALWAYS good. It had been quite a while since my last visit, and upon my return I found EVERYTHING as perfect as ever. Start with the charm of the vintage diner setting. You'd never expect the BEST Indian food to come from here, but it does. The staff... More

First time at Tandoor, but definitely not the last. We were visiting my son at college and he made the suggestion we try the restaurant. This was our first time with this type of buffet. We went for an early lunch which is about $10. there was a very good vegetarian selection; lamb and chicken. The saled choice was fresh... More

Had the buffet lunch here for roughly $10. They had the standard variety of Indian dishes & the several I tried were delicious. A good veg selection too. Everything tasted fresh. Bread was brought to the table and was resupplied as needed. I have tried several buffets at the Indian restaurants in New Haven and can say this one is... More

Located in a 50's dinner styled building but Indian decor inside the food was great, specially the chicken tikka misala as well as the na'an with garlic. Lamb was also very good.
