Fun & Romantic.

We were in town for a medical appointment and having had to skip lunch, we ended up wandering and came across Tandoor. ( I have no idea why "payphone" is in the title!) ...it's on the corner of Chapel & Howe in this great vintage 50's diner. The place is a interesting mix of chrome and dark green... read more

Located in downtown this is a great budget buffet for students. The buffet choice is also very good. Would visit again

It's been a while since our last visit. Always a great experience and delicious Indian food. Tonight was very busy with the Yale community returning, yet the small staff worked tirelessly to make sure everyone was happy and well fed. Still the best Indian restaurant in New Haven. Give it a try!

We stopped here for dinner on a Sunday. The place was almost empty. I'm glad we didn't turn around and leave. We had samosas, pappadums, garlic naan, saag paneer and the ever popular chicken tikka masala. The food was good, the price a bit high incomparison to similar Indian restaurants in Atlanta. Not a bad place to try out. Lunch... More

If you're in New Haven and want to eat lunch for a good price and not sacrifice on taste or quantity, then Tandoor is the place for you. I am not an expert in Indian cuisine, but I like good food and the food at Tandoor is great. The best time to go is between 11am and 2pm, t's only... More

Whenever we go to Yale to visit my son, we will go to this restaurant. We tried the buffet lunch a few times. There are a few choices of meat, vegetables, rice, naan bread, sauces and dessert. Despite the limited choices, the food is very good. The lunch is only $10 + tax. I guess a lot of the students... More

I have been eating Indian food in NYC for over twenty five years. Tonight I stopped at Tandoor as I have passed it many times. I always order the same menu at a new Indian restaurant. Bottom line is the food and preparation was ok but with very little taste. The Nan bread I am sure was not made in... More

We go here about once a month for the all-you-can-eat lunch buffet. We get it to go and save it for dinner. The amount of food and quality of the food that you get for the price is incredible. Everything there is good from the samosas to the chicken tiki masala although our favorite is the chicken chili. Highly recommend... More

I've been visiting Tandoor for the past ten years or so. It's ALWAYS good. It had been quite a while since my last visit, and upon my return I found EVERYTHING as perfect as ever. Start with the charm of the vintage diner setting. You'd never expect the BEST Indian food to come from here, but it does. The staff... More
