I've been visiting Tandoor for the past ten years or so. It's ALWAYS good. It had been quite a while since my last visit, and upon my return I found EVERYTHING as perfect as ever. Start with the charm of the vintage diner setting. You'd never expect the BEST Indian food to come from here, but it does. The staff... More

First time at Tandoor, but definitely not the last. We were visiting my son at college and he made the suggestion we try the restaurant. This was our first time with this type of buffet. We went for an early lunch which is about $10. there was a very good vegetarian selection; lamb and chicken. The saled choice was fresh... More

Had the buffet lunch here for roughly $10. They had the standard variety of Indian dishes & the several I tried were delicious. A good veg selection too. Everything tasted fresh. Bread was brought to the table and was resupplied as needed. I have tried several buffets at the Indian restaurants in New Haven and can say this one is... More

Located in a 50's dinner styled building but Indian decor inside the food was great, specially the chicken tikka misala as well as the na'an with garlic. Lamb was also very good.

On a recent trip to New Haven, we were looking for a nice place to have dinner when we spotted an old diner with a 'Tandoor' sign on it. We thought it to be a rather unusual venue for an Indian restaurant, but decided to try it. What a pleasant surprise! The interior was clean, the staff, including the owner,... More

Situated in an old diner near the Yale campus, this restaurant offers a terrific luncheon buffet with vegetarian and meat entrees and appetizers. The chutneys are hot and delicious and the rice pudding is great. Just a nifty ambience for this delightful and inexpensive find.

Every time I walk by Tandoor there's no one inside, which is why it took me almost a year to finally go in. But I'm glad I did -- Tandoor is a hidden gem! Their food is delicious and the curries have subtle and delicious flavors. It is not particularly expensive either. You should definitely check it out!

I know this restaurant as Tandoor - The Clay Oven, so I'm not sure what the payphone part is. The food is excellent, buffet is very good. Great prices and healthy portions. Waitstaff is always friendly. What is nifty is this restaurant is located in one of those old 50's style diners and they have added their own flare to... More

I never knew how good Indian food was until I ate here. Has a lot of vegetarian options, too.
