Simply Outstanding

Delightful experience. The staff were knowledgeable and engaging. The sommelier's pairing of the wine to our meal was expert. The food and presentation were everything you would hope from a great restaurant.

Came here for special occasion dinner with 5 family members. Ordered multiple appetizers. None were great. Just food taste. Shrimp was especially upsetting for $15 to receive 4 overcooked average sized shrimp. Steamed dumplings were awful and presentation terrible ($13). Salad was so-so. Entrees: Steak was OK. One of us ordered medium rare and it was very rare. Boyfriend ordered... More

We came here whilst Alistair was studying at Yale. To be fair, I was jet lagged, so maybe my expectations were quite a bit higher than usual, but I just seem to remember that the food was not very inspiring and it was ok, not bad, but just ok. I think we just expected a bit more.

We have eaten at this restaurant twice and really enjoyed both visits. The first time was as a couple in May 2014. Based on that stellar experience, we couldn't wait to return a few days ago when 5 of us shared a very nice table by ourselves in the front window. Service and wines were excellent as was the food,... More

Not my type of place. The food is pretty good but I found it a little stuffy and tight. To their credit, they've been around for many years and have been successful. Location is great with plenty of street parking available. Not my first choice in New Haven dining though.

We had a lunch. Everything is perfect: The tuna. But the most surprising was the rhubarb tart. The taste was balanced in every aspect.

Zinc is the best restaurant in New Haven, by far. Creative pairings of flavors and beautiful presentations by Chef Denise Appel, cheerful staff, pleasant surroundings. Salads and small plates are so inventive and delicious. And dessert! Salt caramel gelato, chocolate cherry cake, and so many more delights await. Excellent wine list.

I went there with my friends to have some wine and small plates. Service was professional and atmosphere was very intimate and romantic, probably due to many candles all around us. Food was really great and I'll definitely go there again!

Impossibly packed together tables - sardine can seating. Modern, Edgy, Urban, Concept Decorating = Boring Interior Design Wait staff snooty and pushy - in too much of a hurry to get you out and the next table in. The menu - large, diverse, interesting and appetizing. The food - superb. I mean, SUPERB. It's been almost a year since we... More
