Great food, excellent service in an upscale restaurant very close to the Yale campus. The scallops, fish, bread and desserts where particular winners with our group. Only downside is that the restaurant can be busy and noisy.

I've been going to Zinc since we first moved to New Haven in 2004. The food is exceptionally unique and delicious. Staff is excellent, quick and efficient without being overbearing. I've been during busy times (New Year's Eve and big Yale events) and slow times (summer) and the food and service are always spot on. Chef Denise Appel is a... More

I had salmon and the chef substituted black rice for rice beans and the result was delicious. He should add it to the menu. Very nice wine list also. I'd come again.

Wife and I met old friends here for dinner last night. From the moment we walked in we were taken care of. Late to reservation... No problem. We were seated immediately. Our waitress Abigail, a lovely young lady, was outstanding. She gave us our space without making us feel neglected. The food was super. From the wild greens salad, to... More

The most recent visit I made to Zinc was a few weeks ago to celebrate graduation with the family. We had made a reservation and were seated immediately when we arrived (despite the restaurant being packed). We had the organic greens salad to start with, and we had fish and pasta dishes between us. Everyone was very happy with their... More

Ambiance was nice, service very good, booked through open table without hitch. Presentation lovely but so many flavors in dish especially wasabi, food lost taste, all you could taste was wasabi..... Maybe tone down and it would have been perfect!

New Haven has never been high on my list of places that has very good restaurants - so I was more than surprised by my enjoyable evening at Zinc - the food was interesting, unexpectedly different and very good. The wrapped lettuce appetizer and the tuna that I had were both very good. The recommended dessert while good was probably... More

Had a remarkably satisfying dining experience at Zinc last Saturday night. The menu was filled with tempting and unusual appetizers, excellent choices of fresh fish and vegetarian dishes plus the server was outstanding. She anticipated our needs, made superb suggestions for the wine and entrees and had the perfect balance of being caring but not imposing. My scallops were perfectly... More

We were here for an early dinner before a show on a Saturday night and were very pleased with the whole place. I asked for and got a quiet table for two, and ordered a scallops dish that was absolutely wonderful, and the cocktail of the day, made with a generous amount of liquor. Complementary bread was terrific. We skipped... More
