Sally's has been a family owned pizza restaurant since the 1920's. They do one thing and they do it outstandingly....make pizza. It's old school Italian...no reservations, no credit cards, no entrees just pizza. They don't have a lot of seating and it's very popular. The interior is clean but dated, that's part of the charm. It's casual for sure but... More

If you're a big fan of thin crust pizza this is a must provided you have the patience to wait in line for a while and get really bad service. Sometimes it would take over an hour before we would get our orders. Why it's at the top of many lists still baffles me.

I've eaten a lot of pizza in my day. From Boston to Brooklyn, from Venice to Rome... Nothing compares to the pies from Sally's. My wife and I were on our way to Pepe's which was reviewed as the best pizza in town. As we turned the corner we noticed a line of people standing outside of Sally's. We walked... More

Tradition can't sustain a restaurant forever. Complacency settles in and the service inevitably suffers. It took 55 minutes to get our pizza - a regular cheese pizza. The white clam took another 10 minutes. It tasted good but it was nothing memorable and certainly not worth the wait. The place needs serious remodeling - it looks old, it smells old,... More

I loved the atmosphere and the guys working the joint were great. I am sure it's only because I grew up on Chicago and New York style pizza that I thought Sally's pizza was just ok. Based on other reviews, I was expecting better. The pizza was extremely thin but sloppy. It was charred on the bottom, leaving my finger... More

When driving through Wooster Street in New Haven you will find an abundance of Italian eateries, this is Little Italy, but only a few can generate the buzz or line that Sally's can. I lucky to live in a city with lots of good pizzerias, but Sally's is one of the best pie in New Haven. The pies come out... More

Look the pizza is normally really good. We arrived at 5:30pm and were seated by 5:40pm. Our order was taken right away..2 sodas a medium pizza with 4 toppings. About 6:20 I asked how much longer because we had a play to make. The waiter in his his shorts asked me if it was @ 8:00pm. I said no at... More

Sally's is my favorite. I love the atmosphere I live the attitude-filled service because they have never changed and are so consistent. And you can not imagine how consistently good the food is. One night after my family and a visitor ate at Pepe's we were kind of ashamed about always saying how good new haven pizza is. So we... More

For years, the "fued" over Sally's or Pepe's Pizza, both on Wooster Street in New Haven, has created a mystique among pizza aficionados in the area. I finally got to try Sally's. And I liked it. Very similar to Pepe's, get a distinct , subtle difference was noticed in their sauce. I now prefer Sally's but you should try it for... More
