Very good

I came during restaurant week, so I had a good meal, complete with entree, main dish and dessert. All of the dishes were very good -- the quality of the food was distinctive for sure. They have lots of options. Would definitely recommend.

I came during restaurant week, so I had a good meal, complete with entree, main dish and dessert. All of the dishes were very good -- the quality of the food was distinctive for sure. They have lots of options. Would definitely recommend.

In my first review of Oaxaca Kitchen, I gave the restaurant the benefit of the doubt since my first trip was during New Haven Restaurant Week. We were here for basically a rehearsal dinner. There was a big group of us 30. A reservation had been made. However, somehow they only put us down for 7 people. It's been a while since we visited Oaxaca Kitchen. I remember it being lively, energetic with top notch service and very good food. Tonight was not the same. The vibe was quiet, lonely and forgotten. For the prices that this place charges, you would think that you could expect excellent service AND food. Unfortunately, you really get neither. Food is adequate but not exceptional and the service is generally quite poor. It's too bad, because the descriptions on the menu sound delectable!

First of all, the prices are outrageously high for the small portions they give you. Margaritas are $10 a piece, and are mostly juice. The guacamole was very disappointing. There was still half an avocado in there, as well as the skin and little stem. I am not impressed and on my way to Geronimo down the road.

Food was good, but we were unhappy when we received our Visa statement and found $5.00 had been added to the bill by the restaurant. Perhaps our 16% tip wasn't considered enough? They screwed a 40% tip out of us.

Happy patron of Oaxaca Restaurant you have here. How do you spell Arepa- delicious! I happily return to this New Haven spot for this filling, nice portioned fresh corn cake. I stopped in here after a meeting hoping for a quick lunch without settling for fast food or something like that. I was seated outside on a beautiful fall day and ordered two tacos.
