On the fence.

This Is the vegetarian version of the restaurant chain. I wasn't expecting that. Generally, I am not a fan of a number of Indian cooking. Although, I went to a great one in NJ once. Thali Too is wonderful Indian cuisine, and, in the summer, has the best outdoor patio in New Haven. My wife and I always order the dean's dosa, which is $12.95, but more than enough food for two people. With two beers, our tab comes out to something like $24. I don't love the atmosphere inside the restaurant, but the patio... More

Just behind Yale University sits this terrific Indian restaurant with all vegetarian food. The menu is extensive and in addition to the items we've come to expect from Indian restaurants (like Saag Paneer, Onion Bhaji, etc.) are some real standouts like the cold asparagus salad, the spicy chick peas and the eggplant in sesame-peanut and tamarind sauce. The service is... More

Loved the food and its authenticity! We went for the Sunday brunch, and the variety was amazing and wonderful. Everything was worth consuming. For the quantity available, the price was reasonable, but it was a bit steep for one taking the entire family. I'd rather eat less and pay less. I'd surely go back, but not often.

We visited "thali too" on the way back from ikea. When you are tired of shopping and had not had the required dose(Indian food once a day),you wish the best too be served. The food we ordered was all good beside the bhature.Spice & salt are the things which I generally complain about, but I dint find any issue with that.I liked... More

Totally vegetarian, and lots of vegan options. Surprised there weren't more people there, but it is tucked away in a little spot behind the Yale University bookstore. We ate primarily northern Indian food -- great eggplant and okra dishes, but the aloo gobi was of the dry variety. Lots of food. In fact, our server talked us out of getting... More

So, we were looking for a place to find a place with really good and authentic tasting Baigan Bharta, funny, it may sound, we tried it at a couple of other indian restaurants before reaching here, actually not, we started here... and Ya, it tasted like Pao Bhajji, The place otherwise seems to be good and other stuff on the... My family and I came here for lunch and sat outside. It was very cozy--just off the beaten path by the Yale Bookstore. The waiter was very friendly, and the food was very very inexpensive. We ordered a variety of food, but to summarize, everything is made with very basic ingredients and to a true foodie maybe the flavors are... More

While looking for a spot with outdoor dining, we happened upon at little pathway behind the Apple store and found the tucked away Thali Too-- a vegetarian version of the popular Thali which operates in New Haven's 9th square. It proved to be the perfect place for summer drinks and appetizers on a lovely July afternoon. Great, friendly service and... More

This is one of my favorite restaurants in New Haven. Their food is only vegetarian. All their breads are fantastic. I personally love their Bagara Baigan (the eggplant entree). A pleasant surprise also their cardamom and rose ice cream. Great relation quality price. Try to go for a Sunday brunch!
