Best Mexican restaurant anywhere. Having been to Mexico over 20's times we can't wait to come home and go to Mezcal for their Margaritas and authentic Mexican food.

Great authentic mexican food. Excellent laid back atmosphere, wonderful staff and got to love their happy hour margaritas!
I used to live around the corner from these guys, and still frequent them even though I now live across town. Love the staff, love the authentic, comforting, homestyle food, love the ever-changing salsas, and especially LOVEEEEE the traditional margaritas. Don't have more than two of those bad boys if you plan to drive home! On Friday or Saturday nights...

Loved it. do you want good mexican food? confort food? the real deal? you have to eat here. lunch or dinner. try the caldo tlalpeno and the tostadas de tinga. it brought me back to my roots....
Restaurant very good but I was expecting something more upscale. It has a family, local feel. I'm in the mood for that tonight so I'm going back,

The first time I went I ordered nachos and...

Mezcal is hands down my favorite restaurant in New Haven. The food is great: as a rule of thumb, the more authentic the dish, the better it tastes. This isn't a place to be shy; try the seafood soup, the carnitas, the mole, the steak with cactus, the pumpkin chicken, or the lightly-fried fish. I've had each of these and...

Not a lot of options for vegetarians here, but the one I order--chiles rellenos--is so good it has ruined me for any other version in New Haven. It's been a while since I was in Mexico, but Mezcal seems just like the restaurants I went to there, without forcing it. Lots of tequila (and mezcal) to choose from.
The service is slow, the food is less than appealing.
Friendly service, delicious food, and reasonably priced! A very enjoyable dining experience.
