Great food, a little pricey

Wonderful German atmosphere and food. A little pricey, but the special dinner included a lot. The German veal meatballs with spaetzel and gravy special dinner was about $26 but included soup as well as salad, two veggies, and dessert, so that helped make up for the price. Mashed carrots were... read more

Wonderful German atmosphere and food. A little pricey, but the special dinner included a lot. The German veal meatballs with spaetzel and gravy special dinner was about $26 but included soup as well as salad, two veggies, and dessert, so that helped make up for the price. Mashed carrots were spiced uniquely and very good. Potato pancakes with apple sauce... More

Definitely worth trying. We drove about an hour and would do it again. Authentic German food and German beer. Place was very busy for lunch.

My wife and I were in Hartford on business and the company we were visiting was having their Christmas party here and they insisted we come! I love German food and their's was excellent. There was a special menu and I had wiener schnitzel with reg cabbage and i would order it again. they have a good assortment of german... More

Having lived in Germany for a few years we were excited to try this place. I would say go more for the beer and fun atmosphere than the food quality. The meals are large and heavy as you would expect. They sing songs when you order the large beer steins and everyone gets involved. Something different

I'll start by saying the food was decent and seemed very authentic BUT the food was EXTREMELY overpriced we were shocked, the beer selection was poor (waitress compared a few beers to bud light...ummm...), and the wine pours were skimpy at best. There are no reasonable priced items on the menu, all entrees are $35+. Desserts were disappointing.

Just dined here at a birthday party this weekend. I gave it two stars for the decor of the place, which is charming and the service was excellent. What I did not like that I think it's a restaurant with poor tasteless food, that is just designed for people to overdrink. For every single beer that is served in the... More

We recently dined here visiting friends that live in the area. I start this by saying, my wife and I are not the biggest fans of German food. That changed after eating at the East Side. The portions are overwhelming. The quality of the food was excellent and the beer was cold. Our server (I think his name was Dave... More

this is the only place to go in Connecticut for real true good German food. I acknowledge there are other German restaurants in Connecticut but if you're looking for the whole package you will never be disappointed at this restaurant. the food is nothing short of phenomenal. everything is good. the staff is a lot of fun and the service... Great German beer in one liter steins and a show every time you order one. Not only is this restaurant entertaining beyond words, the food is great. Many claim it is expensive, but the meals are all inclusive and include a small salad, soup and desert. All the food was a solid 4 out of 5 and the entertrainment puts... More

We stopped or lunch and were surprised and happy to see the accordion player there. This guy knows every song you can think of. He was playing Christmas songs, German songs and lots of other music. A group near us of senior citizens requested lots of real oldies. He played. They sang. The atmosphere was festive and fun. Our waitress... More
