Sea Swirl of Mystic was formerly a street side Carvel Ice Cream shop. It is located at 30 Williams Avenue at the junction of Routes 1 & 27 in Connecticut. Sea Swirl offers the best of fried clams and fantastic seafood plus has one of the most beautiful sunsets on the horizon. Outdoor dining overlooks the flood tide and customers can enjoy delicious ice cream as well. Sea Swirl may seem like an unlikely place to find four-star food, but for many years now, it has sustained a deserved reputation as one of the finest places to eat fried clams, especially the whole-belly variety. Sea Swirl serves a full roster of expertly fried seafood, including scallops, shrimp and fish. For an alternative to seafood, there are hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken sandwiches and more.

The ownership has changed and things are still okay. Wish they hired more adults instead of these clueless foreign teenagers that can't understand more than the language on the basic menu.

Hi Wendy S. Thanks for stopping by to eat! We just wanted to take a minute to tell you about the Interexchange program that Sea Swirl has been involved in for many years (including under the previous owners). Under this program, we bring students from the Philippines to Mystic each summer to work. We bring 4 students per (their) semester,... More

As always, the Sea Swirl didn't disappoint. The best fried clams anywhere! Thick, soft, battered nicely and cooked just right!

This is a sit down outdoor fish and shellfish shack where everything is excellent and fresh. Fish and Chips accompanied with lemon, tartar sauce and coleslaw were all as one would wish -- light crispy batter coating moist fish, crunchy french fries that had not sat anywhere, fresh bellied clams very tasty and fresh, and the clam strips were equally... Stopped by for a quick bite while exploring around Stonington & Mystic. Had the lobster salad roll and the fried oysters. Food was good, service was quick, nice little stop.

Swift service, cheap eats. Great milkshakes. Not being a seafood lover, got the grilled cheese with tomato - good one. Of course husband loved his lobster roll.

Ordered whole belly clams today. Many places charge 20.00 for an order but Sea Swirl is the only place that they are worth every penny & more. They Never disappoint! Golden buttery goodness with just the right amount of crispness. Worth the trip from anywhere.

Every day visit with the kids for ice cream. Soft serve or hard ice cream are equally good Service is friendly albeit not the most informative

Loved the outdoor ice cream stand where you eat at picnic tables. First time I ever had clam bellies. Creamy clam belly with crispy strip attached. Small boat of fried clam bellies was $20 with no sides or drinks. The Sriracha, cocktail sauce and tartar sauce were gratis. Delicious clams...highly recommend.

Just finished a Fried Clam tour of New England and I STILL have to say: SEA SWIRL has the BEST Fried Clams in New England!!! Just sayin'! And the Rhode Island Broth Clam Chowder is the best I've had in the Northeast!
