Sea Swirl of Mystic was formerly a street side Carvel Ice Cream shop. It is located at 30 Williams Avenue at the junction of Routes 1 & 27 in Connecticut. Sea Swirl offers the best of fried clams and fantastic seafood plus has one of the most beautiful sunsets on the horizon. Outdoor dining overlooks the flood tide and customers can enjoy delicious ice cream as well. Sea Swirl may seem like an unlikely place to find four-star food, but for many years now, it has sustained a deserved reputation as one of the finest places to eat fried clams, especially the whole-belly variety. Sea Swirl serves a full roster of expertly fried seafood, including scallops, shrimp and fish. For an alternative to seafood, there are hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken sandwiches and more.

Sea Swirl is where the locals go to celebrate the start of the summer season. It means the cold is finally gone and warmth is on its way. We stopped in Mystic, CT on our way from NYC to Newport, RI. We wanted a snack, and stopped at Sea Swirl for the clam fritters and crabcake sandwich, both were delicious.

my 2nd review for this place - once great now just good and way overpriced. i came for the fried clams.bought the large fried clams. the price was ridiculous for the amount given. i almost gave them back and asked for my money back. wish i did.but after a long ride and being hungry for fried clams i took them.... This is a icon of Mystic, but I am not sure why. The ice cream is fine but the food is very over priced. You are eating on paper at picnic tables for the price of a restaurant. Go have a cone and look over menu.

We stopped at the Sea Swirl for lunch and all 3 of us enjoyed our meals. I had the whole belly clam roll, which was fresh and delicious, and my companions had the fish tacos (also quite good) and clam strips. This is a no-frills seafood shack that was just perfect for a quick lunch.

By far the absolute best. Went to Woodman's in MA this past summer (Home of the Fried Clam) and their Fried clams were pretty great. But Sea Swirl has that extra good breading and is a teeny bit more "greasy" which, in a Fried Clam, is a GOOD thing. Only once did I have to send them back because they... More

The summer is nearing a close and this is where we decided to go to get those last treats before the hectic school schedule kicks in again. We have been going here for years and years and the quality is always the same and the coziness of this spot remains the same. Even though it is right on the road... More

I wish I didn't live two hours away from this little roadside shack. OK, so there is no "ambience," no indoor seating, and no view of the water, but the fish is so fresh and expertly cooked!

My family and I were just driving through Mystic, CT, hungry for a late lunch and found this quick and easy remade ice cream store made into serving ice cream and fresh fried clams. Just the perfect combination to start with we had clams, lobster rolls and lobster sliders and a burger - all made to order so we did... More

This was fun. Stop at a seafood/ice cream stand, sit and eat your food at a shaded picnic table overlooking water (and the railroad, which is not "too" close by). Wonderful, excellent and fresh food, Our party ate clam strip roll, sweet potato fries, full-bellied clams, and crabcakes. We all left happy and eager for a return trip. Food is... More
