Sea Swirl of Mystic was formerly a street side Carvel Ice Cream shop. It is located at 30 Williams Avenue at the junction of Routes 1 & 27 in Connecticut. Sea Swirl offers the best of fried clams and fantastic seafood plus has one of the most beautiful sunsets on the horizon. Outdoor dining overlooks the flood tide and customers can enjoy delicious ice cream as well.

Sea Swirl may seem like an unlikely place to find four-star food, but for many years now, it has sustained a deserved reputation as one of the finest places to eat fried clams, especially the whole-belly variety. Sea Swirl serves a full roster of expertly fried seafood, including scallops, shrimp and fish. For an alternative to seafood, there are hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken sandwiches and more.

We ordered fish tacos and sat out under the big tent in the shade, which was nice. There was more lettuce than fish on our tacos. Kind of disappointing for the price. The view was quaint of the water on one side and the road on the other side, to be expected for road side dining. The ice cream is average at... More

Sea Swirl is a Mystic must go place. The fried clams are the best in town. Grab a picnic table and watch the town go by. Finish it off with an ice cream you can't go wrong.

We went on the last day it was open for the season, 10/12/15, and were glad we made it! We had a fresh Cod sandwich for 6.75 and we split it, making it very reasonable. We were pretty full from eating cider donuts at Clyde's Cider Mil, so that played a part in it as well! :) But we were... More

We are glad you made it too! And glad that with all those amazing cider donuts from Clyde's you saved room for a soft serve! Come back and see us in the spring! More

I really wanted scallops and this place does have scallops. They only come fried. They were good but expensive. Scallops, cod, one coleslaw, one drink, for two people was $37. You sit outside at picnic tables on the highway.

The best whole belly clams, bar none. Have been there many times and have never had anything else. Was disappointed that they were closed during the week after Labor Day. Came all the way from Maryland and couldn't have my clams!

We make two special trips from New York every year to visit this place. The whole-belly clams are perfectly fried -- not too greasy, but crisp and wonderfully battered. The dinner comes with cole slaw and decent fries. If you're not into clams, the fish and chips is also excellent. We never leave here unhappy.

The hard ice cream is okay, but it tastes like Sealtest or some other grocery store ice cream. Also very frustrated that they didn't have the option for one scoop. I had to pay $3.95 for a single scoop of ice cream. I would have been better off going to the store and buying a pint of premium ice cream.

The ownership has changed and things are still okay. Wish they hired more adults instead of these clueless foreign teenagers that can't understand more than the language on the basic menu.

Hi Wendy S. Thanks for stopping by to eat! We just wanted to take a minute to tell you about the Interexchange program that Sea Swirl has been involved in for many years (including under the previous owners). Under this program, we bring students from the Philippines to Mystic each summer to work. We bring 4 students per (their) semester,... More
