Always liked the tavern at the Captain Daniel Packer Inn in Mystic, and still do. Can't complain too much about the food. Recently, we ate there with friends who had never eaten there before. They liked the food. I love their onion soup: but I was disappointed in a corned beef sandwich: the meat was dry and just not tasty.... More

We had dinner at DPI this past Friday It was mediocre to be kind . The pulled pork dish was tasteless and uninteresting . I had a dish with several types of fish . NOT FRESH . The pasta was not fresh and the shrimp frozen . I was totally disappointed and would not come again . I did come... More

I usually write glowing reviews, especially for the DPI. But this trip they fell well short of my expectations. 1st, I ordered my favorite Oban scotch and got something entirely different....very peppery and burned the throat. The bartender insisted it was Oban. But I had another at home later just to confirm and it tasted entirely different! Food was "okay"... More

I booked the Riverview Room for our group of 30 cruising on our boats for the weekend. We spent one night here. Judy and Damien were very helpful in helping to plan a great evening for the group. We had tthe private Riverview Room upstairs which overlooks the water. It has its own bathroom and bar. We picked a set... More

Went for dinner upstairs in the main dining room. Wonderfull ambiance in a 1700s converted house, wait staff rocked! Food was well prepared, hot," my #1 gripe usually" and imaginative. Swordfish was a large portion and the best prepared I have ever had! There is a reason For the wait line on a weekday,it's worth it! Find this place for yourself... More

We ate at the bar in the downstairs pub because it was a busy Friday night. The bartenders were very attentive and the food was great. As "out of towners", we enjoyed the atmosphere too.

We were so happy to discover this restaurant! The food was excellent. We had fish and chips which had very nice fish under a proper crispy batter. Good side dishes, too. One member of our party said that he had one of the best burgers ever and really loved the accompanying truffle fries. Good iced tea, NOT the tannic stuff... More

The cooking is first rate. The tavern down stairs is a 17th century relic with wonderful atmosphere. Great wait staff and live music every night. It's not the 10 piece band kind of music, but singers, guitarists, duos. Intimate and relaxed and welcoming. Cozy cozy cozy. Perfect ending to a day in Mystic.

The DPI is my favorite restaurant! Whether eating in the pub or the dining room, the service & food is always excellent! Beware of being a party of more than 4 though, tables for more can be quite cramped. The pub offers generally the same menu at lower prices. The bread with roasted garlic at dinner & the DPI salad... Located a few minutes away from Mystic center. Seems a simple place from the outside, wit hjust a small sign providing the name. There's a parking spot near the entrance as well as behing the building. Food was varied and of excellent quality. Service was excellent, information was quickly and accurately provided for all plates and drinks. Recommended!
