Basque region memories

My first time in the lovely town of Milford CT, and WOW, right smack in the middle is this bistro-style eatery that hosts tastes of all of the Basque region, a mix of French and Spanish. We have dined at Bistro Basque four or five times. We haven’t been there in a couple of years and it was usually good so we decided to go back. Mistake! One small piece of cold bread with cold dipping oil, one so so sangria, downsized and not so good tapas, and two seafood paellas. The paellas each featured two... More

Just came off the train from NYC and wanted to have some fish. Bistro Basque has a nice menu and it is small and cozy. Very busy for a Wednesday evening but ordered and had a delicious scallop entree with spinach and mashed potatoes. The salmon was prepared very well, also. Sauces are excellent. Good experience.

We had a really good experience at this restaurant. We just went for tapas, and enjoyed every dish. The food was wonderful, and the service was excellent. It was totally packed even at 6:00 PM, so I would recommend reservations! A great find....

Don't misinterpret the headline, BB is very good. The "but" is that friends and relatives raved about BB so we went with very high expectations. Service is great, very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about Spanish dishes and wines. The food was good but certainly not great. Deserts, however, were excellent. The real testimony to BB's popularity is that on a... More

I was visiting my home town, Milford, CT., last weekend. One of my oldest and dearest friends had been to Bistro Basque and suggested we try it. In our group of three, there was one vegetarian, one allergic to shellfish and one without specific food allergies or requirements. The menu was great, with many Mediterranean choices suitable for all. The... More

I've eaten here many several times over the last few years and always enjoyed a decilcious, well-paced meal. The menu features a nice selection of interesting and tasty tapas, the regular and daily special menu items are always nicely prepared and presented, fine selection of tasty desserts and the wines they serve are modestly priced. David the owner is a... More

The service here never ceases to amaze me. The selections of entrees are not your main-stream, and the chef is fabulous. Cocktails are REAL, not some watered down version.

Save yourself some time and some money and avoid this place. I was so surprised that in this day and age, considering how much competition is out there, that this place gets away with serving such bad food with such bad service. Ordered brussel sprouts, which were boiled - yes, boiled - and tasteless artichokes. Disgusting deep fried raviolis fileld... More

This was my first time eating in Milford, so I admit that I have nothing to compare it to. What I do know is that the food here is more pan-Spanish than Basque specifically, and the menu reads pretty interesting, but the execution is unbalanced. If and when I do return to dine in Milford, I'd probably try something else,... More
