I lived in new haven for 5 years, and moved away about 5 years ago. so I had not been to my favorite restaurant in Milford for a long time. this past weekend, we had to drive up to take care of some real estate transactions. We stopped in for an early supper. The staff were not unfriendly, but more interested in setting up the service for dinner hour. My tapas of squid and rice in squid ink was tasty, but too much for a tapas and almost all rice with a few tiny pieces of squid. And someone had just taken a large handful out... More

On my visit to Milford, I found this restaurant, which brought back memories of my basque background. From the moment we entered we were greeted by Juan Costa, a Basque, who made us feel back in the mother land, and so helpful in his words estimated and meal suggestions, that it was a wonderful meal to remember and enjoy. A... More

My first time in the lovely town of Milford CT, and WOW, right smack in the middle is this bistro-style eatery that hosts tastes of all of the Basque region, a mix of French and Spanish. I was warmly greeted by Juan, who hails from a small town outside of San Sebastian, and we quickly shared stories of my visits... More

We have dined at Bistro Basque four or five times. We haven’t been there in a couple of years and it was usually good so we decided to go back. Mistake! One small piece of cold bread with cold dipping oil, one so so sangria, downsized and not so good tapas, and two seafood paellas. The paellas each featured two... More

Just came off the train from NYC and wanted to have some fish. Bistro Basque has a nice menu and it is small and cozy. Very busy for a Wednesday evening but ordered and had a delicious scallop entree with spinach and mashed potatoes. The salmon was prepared very well, also. Sauces are excellent. Good experience.

We had a really good experience at this restaurant. We just went for tapas, and enjoyed every dish. The food was wonderful, and the service was excellent. It was totally packed even at 6:00 PM, so I would recommend reservations! A great find....

Don't misinterpret the headline, BB is very good. The "but" is that friends and relatives raved about BB so we went with very high expectations. Service is great, very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about Spanish dishes and wines. The food was good but certainly not great. Deserts, however, were excellent. The real testimony to BB's popularity is that on a... More

I was visiting my home town, Milford, CT., last weekend. One of my oldest and dearest friends had been to Bistro Basque and suggested we try it. In our group of three, there was one vegetarian, one allergic to shellfish and one without specific food allergies or requirements. The menu was great, with many Mediterranean choices suitable for all. The... More

I've eaten here many several times over the last few years and always enjoyed a decilcious, well-paced meal. The menu features a nice selection of interesting and tasty tapas, the regular and daily special menu items are always nicely prepared and presented, fine selection of tasty desserts and the wines they serve are modestly priced. David the owner is a... More
